Not a fan of aftermarket wheels I’ve always ran original wheels on all my vw’s but I was very impressed with the look of this aftermarket Empi torque thrust D spoke that was modified into a 4.5 with the face popping out I had to have them.  Very well made and I intend to use them in my next ride. Scored a set of rare American racing magnesium torque thrust wide 5 rims but had to buy the 59 semiphore ragtop that was posted on the samba yesterday to get them.  The car is rust free and straight but the wheels were what I was after. The wheels look ugly but they are straight and true only one wheel with a tiny curb rash on it other than that the wheels Are nice.  Gotta clean them up.

Yep, good find indeed! When you restore the wheels please take lots of pictures and explain what you do - I'd love to know how the restoration process goes for a set of wheels like these.

I was just thinking of walnut blasting them and polish the lip like Joe Ruiz did his they came out nice besides in about 4-6 weeks they are dark grey again anyways. These oxidize much quicker than my BRMs do.

I was actually thinking about that but just for the inner bead only as I want the wheel to be oxidized to a dark grey I already starting media blasting the wheels then most likely leave it as is to go gray again but it sure yet

The round caps aren’t threaded but they fit perfect over/around the threads

No they do not fit the non threaded snout these are a hair wider in circumference compared to the ones that fit my other D spokes with a non threaded snout. Not sure what the ones I used on the threaded D spoke wheels are from/for there isn’t a part# on them. I have ALOT of caps
