Hi guys, my name is Benito living in Sydney OZ, you could say I've been into beetles for a while.
A bit of an intro to the new project that I have just started based on a 66'.
The car was originally built by a custom fabrication shop a few years ago and has since seen better days so I thought a rescue is in order.
It was riding an air-bagged chassis and has been mini tubbed front and rear which helps with clearance for larger wheels at the back and lowered stance at the front (it will be riding on conventional suspension)
Plan is Rat-Cal 1776 with stock modified gearbox or big T4 with built box, still to be decided.

Here it is as I received it

and with the lowered narrow front end

will keep you posted as to progress of RANGA

Correct, beetletom. I should have pointed out that it is Australian built 66' which is a Euro 64'.
Fabs, it may get a little polished, we'll see  Wink

Grin LOL hair to be added later or maybe change the name to GINGA.
I thought since it's orange it could be a tribute to redheads throughout the world, both names are also Aussie slang for redheads.
On another note, I am still deciding what wheels will end up on the car, got a choice of stock slotted silver, empi 5 chrome, centerline polished or Mangel chrome? Hhhmmmm
