For those of you across the pond who don't read that "other" forum, I wanted to share my past weekend experience and bask in the glory of all that is VW !
I took the Grey Devil to the Goodguys Del Mar Nationals street rod show in San Diego, Ca this past weekend, which is a very high-end street rod / hot rod event that puts on amazing shows across the US ($100 - 200K cars are normal  Shocked). On Saturday afternoon a group of judges came over to the car and said I was given the honor of parking in the "Winners Circle" on Sunday with 50 (out of 2500 plus) cars that were amazing!  I won the "Wild Card" award, and am still on cloud 9 !
I just wanted to tell you guys that the VW hobby was well represented, and got LOTS of attention all weekend!  I must have talked to over 2002 people about the car and VW's in general, and hopefully created a little more interest in what WE love so much.  Grin

Awesome! Must be a hefty task keeping those wheels shiny. What kind of car won best of show?

Thanks gents !    The wheels on my car are "enviro plated" which is like powdercoating.  After restoring them three different ways, and rubbing until I have no finger prints anymore, I decided to try this.

The car the won Best of Show was Kevin Alstotts '35 Ford Cab. It also won the Grand National Roadster show in February.  Unreal car !

Well done Darrell!! I always go to the Scottsdale Goodguys show, I never thought that a VW would even get a second look there, much less win an award! Well done indeed!!
