ive seen one or 2 on cars, but not many

Very nice! I have one for my Lowlight and love them to. The belgian green MACH 1 has also a nice one. Love them!

Used to sell them back in the late 1970s and 1980s through Autocavan. Nothing special about them – just a generic 'extractor' exhaust. Not a merged design. The glassfibre packing blows out of the muffler after a few months! They also rust... Ansa made exhaust systems for Ferrari, by the way.

I wonder if American muscle guys referred to glasspacks as fart cans back in the day like everybody does now with the Honda and modern import tuner crowd? Just curious... I know the cars were refered to as kraut cans back then, but am wondering if the glasspack tone would have incited the same type of antagonism?

had a flange welded on and fitted mine yesterday, sounds perfect!!
not tappety like a quietpack, or screams like a stinger but just loud!!!

HEY! I wouldn't call the Ansa glaspack a poor quality exhaust. I have spent the last 14 years trying to kill one but it's still going strong.. In 1997 I found a nos header and exhaust and bolted it to my first bug. A lot of cars have come and gone since then but the glaspack has been on one of them all the time. For the first 4-5 years it was used all year long and saw about 20.000km's a year, half of them on salty winter roads. It has been on my current '57 oval since 2005 and I drive that car about 15.000 km each summer. I guess the exhaust has seen about 250.000 km's so far. How long does an original exhaust last? Ok, lately it has been getting a new coat of black oven paint every spring, but it's still working like a charm and one my oldest and most abused VW parts  |

I have one on my 65 which runs a stock 1200. Sounds amazing, not very loud at all I love it. Highly recommended.
