Dean's going to have to chime in on the sticker deal...   Tires sure make a big difference with today's look.  Those rear tires look like 165 X 15 smokers to me...and what about all that HAIR??  Shocked Grin

Tyre sure do make a difference , getting some 70s over here now for sensible money is a right pain  Angry most settle for 65s now as they are more readily available and the feel a lot better .

did you know when the first dkp split  Huh  were the members of the first dkp always members of the second generation??
now how many "ancient" are in the III generation?? you , ron ,and  Huh
rgd
fabs

That's a "touchy" question to answer.  No one who was a member of DKP I was, to the best of my knowledge, involved with DKP II.  I never knew about DKP II...seemed like we were all anxious to go our seperate ways and forget about VW's.  That's when I got involved with the sandrail thing...until 1998 when Ron Fleming began telling me I needed to come to the VW Classic (mainly to see him judge the bikini contest  Cool).  I spent the 1999 Classic alongside of Scott Bakken (he was in Carlos' ride) and got to thinking about the old times on the street...plus there were guys that actually had DKP III stickers in their windows!  The rest is history.  So far, I'm the only old coot with a completed car...Mike Johnston, Mike Mahaffey, Dennis DeMarco and Mike Larsen are all in the works and of course Dean Kirsten keeps threatning to build "something!"  Roll Eyes Grin

I believe Mike Hunsaker still has his 60's vert.

The picture I took of Dean Kirsten was taken at the Anaheim convention center I also had my VW on display near him. If you look in the back ground you will see Jaky Jake's custom split window which was on the cover of Hot VWs.

   Thanks

The reason my '67 never had DKP stickers on it, was.... the DKP retail swag store was officially closed by the time I finished my car! So there I was, IDAs, Beckers, Brad's, DDS - all the shit, and no more club, no more club house, no nothing! I believe Arnie and Terry were the last two that were officially voted on to become club members, so no more DKP (1), and no stickers for Deano.

It will be quite an honor that sometime next year, when my (new) '67 is completed and running, that I finally will display the original DKP stickers and hood badge that have been waiting soooo long to use.

The lady between Mike Mahaffee and Mike Bennitt is Erika Schneider, Joe's wife.  This shot is from the DKP I Reunion.

Good one, Fabs!  That's the Hot Rod magazine shot from 1971.  Rick Meisner's bus, then me and the 63, Dave Velton, Zavala, Mike Mahaffey, Doug Gordon, Ron Fleming, Craig Foster, Greg Aronson, Rick Winter...the last two guys, I'm not sure about though.   Cool

Was Mike Mahaffey's Split lowered in the front at that time? It looks slightly lower than the '67 with Berms next to it but that can be Split vs '67 fenders..
