Hello all
we're thinking of going with a wbx-oxy case and std wbx crank for our turbo drag race car, do you think the stock crank can handle 500HP or we have to make mods -welding balancing weightss etc-, I really would like to hear your opinion before start working on it, cheers and thanks

I would order a dpr crank or machine the case to fit a flange crank.

No problem,- use the std crank.
Have used std balanced crank in my over 600 hp engine for many years no, racing and dayli driven, and not even changed the bearings.

Hello
Peter do you happen to know, DPR only adds the counterweights or makes other changes too? I'm thinking for example to ofset grind the rod bearings to get some extra throw, I have a set of Pauter rods with chevy bearing I could use, the overall thought was to use what we have on the selve and not buy other parts
SSRT you mean completely std crank without extra weights, only balanced as is? Any extra dowels on the flywheel besides the 5 bolts? What you used as pressure plate for that power, a kennedy or something else?
Thanks for your time

Don't cut it down to chevy journal . The vw journal makes it stronger .

Before you buy a welded crank- i have an original oettinger 82 mm wbx crank for sale. It is cut for first undersize and nitrided also ready ballanced with a 914 flywheel wich is the only steel flywheel for type4 . The crank and flywheel have dowel pins and shaft bolts. Ready for dragracing but i do not know if this holds up your turbo engine
