About 1983, a pan off party.  Too many beers.  2nd story balcony belly flop.  That's me in the drivers seat w/moustache....lame.  A VERY nice 67 vert in the background.  Too funny.

Just got a chance to use my newest and most favorite tool!
Danny Gabbard (GabFab) makes this absolutely BITCHIN' Hinge Pin Removal Tool that makes the dreaded procedure nearly effortless!
This thing is built like an M1 tank (!) and works like slicing butter with a red hot knife!
As shown, I was able to push this right-side pin from this super nice 54K '67 survivor in less than 5 minutes with no damage whatsoever to the hinge, door, me or other viewers throughout the procedure.
If you EVER even THINK you might need to perform this job at ANYTIME throughout the remainder of your Life, You would be sorely mistaken not to purchase and keep one in Your tool inventory.
Straight from the fields in TEXAS ...

A few my dad and gampy (granddad) took at various early UK drag race meetings and speed trials and other stuff in the late 60's early 70's. I scanned them in a few years ago for a guy who runs a nostalgia website. I've got a ton more kicking around scanned and alot more that remain unscanned.  Smiley

The guy with the tash here is my gamps.

again, this time with my dad.

That's not such a bad thing you were there in my opinion!! When I posted them on another forum some of the guys actually put alot of names to the faces and spotted old friends, one guy even saw himself!

That's it for now, I'll try dig out the photos again and find some more vw related ones.

I thought I recognized it! I was only reading an issue of ultravw last night, where KS wrote about his experience driving that car (I think).

Awesome stuff.

I'll find that pic again and scan in a higher resolution.

very nice. i don't think there were any kind of these events here in Belgium or the Netherlands, France. maybe Germany due to the military bases. it seems 'foreign' in a way.

Maybe there were some in France. US military bases stayed in France until 1971, after that, De Gaulle asked them to live France. For example, close from my hometown, there were an old US military base. Soldier were here till 1971, waiting here. The roads on the military base are all straigh. I'll try to take some pics.
The soldier were all importing US and sports cars taxfree. When they had to leave in 1971, they all let their cars in the base, abandonned. So many locals took the cars and there are still plenty of old US cars in the area. For example, on of my neighboor as 4 of them. I also bought a while back a Moon manifold with 4 weber 48 ida on it. It came from a guy who was doing racing during the late 60's. He was a soldier in France Wink
A friend of mine had an old US car. The engine was build by his father during the late 60's when he was a soldier in France.
So I think racing was existing in France, but probably Inside the US military bases.
