I don't post on her much as I have been out of the scene and my car has been off the road for over 10 years... I've just been an observer.. Smiley

The last time it was driven in anger was at Bug Jam 2003 when the R&P decided to call it a day on the first run... Since then the car has been moved from lock up to lock up in the safe custody of Richie and Jo.

The car has finally made it to Dubai and is now registered after jumping through some hoops..

Thanks Richie and Jo for your hospitality and support over the years and next time I am in the UK it will be a social visit!! I'll bring the biscuits and you supply the tea! Smiley

Time now to enjoy driving my Hot VW!

Cheers

Tom  Smiley

Very nice car Tom!!!!  Well worth the wait.  And I know it was long. I remember seeing it just after paint. Or was it just after paint again? (LOL)  Congrats.     Dave Rhoads

Dave, I am sure you remember that day well with Richie when I upset the painter! Stressful and funny at the same time, the best line was "it's an old car what do you expect"....

What kind of roll cage do you have in there?

Hi Sebastian,

it's a Jim Smith creation. All tied into the frame forks and rear shock towers. Drop Jim a line, he won't let you down. Smiley

p.s interior is from Bernard Newbury, he won't let let you down either! Smiley

Fantastic looking car Tom.

Did this car used to have flames painted on the front wings, or am I thinking of a completely different car?

LOVE that roll cage. Anymore pictures of it with the drivers door open? Does it go forward of the screen or stop under the dash?

Tom, you wouldn't still have that rolling road printout would you? I remember it making 200+ hp at a really low rpm and having a torque curve that was otherworldly back then. If you do, let's have another look.

Stretch, yes it's the same car. Smiley

Iryanu, the cage stops at the dash, it doesn't run down to the beam. Here' s a slightly clearer pic.

Chris, I don't have the print out but managed to find the figures jotted down from back in 2003... The goal posts have definitely changed since then and I may have a JPM head swap sometime in the future and some flat tops in there too, those motors are making some big numbers!! Smiley

Ok, it looks very pretty! But I preferred it with flames  Wink

No it looks stunning and Max's shop seems a distant memory now! Still must be something in the air I'm rebuilding mine currently like a mad man.

It'll be on the road in the next two weeks 😎 It's teaching me a expensive lesson for being ignored, then just lost the plot on the shopping spree!

Enjoy that bug, what have they made of it in Dubai?
