This thread needs a bump!

Here's a question... How come there aren't many Cal-Look verts in here? Not cool? Or hard to come by?

Also... The gold wheel look has really grown on me lately.

I suspect its because they rot really badly! One of my long term projects is a flat screen cab but it was so rusty I've basically cut off the cabriolet only parts and started grafting them onto more solid donor sections. It will be cool, but building a sedan would be much easier - in fact I've cut two up in the process!

the 67 only had a optionel ragtop in the standard version. Just because they wanted to get rid of these things laying around.  The export version only had a optional metal sunroof.
Again a 67 special cause the previous years it wasn't an option.

This is one of my favorite threads on this site... one of these days I'm going to get around to putting up some good pictures of my '67, ratty and bumper-stickered as it is, she has some good ol' Cal-look influence, especially under the decklid...

Nice shane,
I would bead blast the centres of those wheels. Martin did it on a set he had and they looked really good

Thanks Lee. That is something I had already thought to do when I got those rims and still might......

great collection of 67 beetles !!

I completed the US look on my 67 with new bumpers

by the way, if anybody is searching for a 67 ragtop standard model project, this seems to be the real deal (although it has a lot wrong parts on it):

I run 145/80 F560 Firestones in the front and 185/80 Vredestein Sprint Classic in the back.

The front beam is narrowed by around 2 cm per side. I have the long axles with 40mm brake drums (shortened on the outside to fit the 67 axle) in the back. The fit in the back is very tight and I have some rubbing issues. I am planning to modifiy the drums to get some more clearance. The brake pad contact area is much wider than the pads, so that should be possible.

Car looks great! But why sacrifice braking? Swap to short axles.

I feel like an idiot for blanking this out, but what wheels are those? I might have to hold out on whatever other wheels I wanted this week and pick up a set of these and paint them gold ASAP... this car looks badass all the way around, but the wheels just sell it!
