Hi Guys,

Coming from Finland to spend nearly 2 weeks in LA and nearby locations from May 20th to June 2nd and now I want to gather all the hints from you fellas and do as much of them as possible.
So, please, give me the must see places and ofcourse all the possible shows, DKP stuff, cruise nights, swap meets etc. Would really like to see some of these legendary cars live. And maybe get to know some of you and say hi!
Really looking forward to this trip as this is my first to California and wanting to go a long time! Only been a couple of times to Florida and mostly working.

I would take a drive to Sacramento for Bug o rama 27th & 28th may, its a fair drive but big swapmeet, 1/4 mile racing and show n shine all in one place, you can camp out Saturday night at track as well and swapmeet stays open till late at night

cheers Richie

What part of LA are you going to be in?

A tour through Orange County will allow you to see Berg, Rancho, FAT, and many other places. I took Jon on a tour when he visited several years ago.

Not vw's but still I would be interested in. Location Fontana.

How about Las Vegas and Hoover dam?

Last year I had holiday at about same time. Flight to LA, drive around and to home from San Fransisco. About 100 miles from/to Sacramento.

Hi Rick,

We have a hotel in Whittier at least for a start. But we have a rental car and already planned to drive and see stuff here and there.
Orange County surely will go on the list! That list of companies sound good! Maybe even buy ida shorty manis from Berg  Grin

Yes Las Vegas is already planned. But didn't know that Hoover Dam is so close to Vegas until checked it on google maps. Surely put in on the list!

One tip: Get your own navigator with you. It's much cheaper way than rent with car. And pack it to hand luggage...

Really? We found it very reasonable with our hire car. I would definitely recommend visiting the Bergs and Thursday night drags at irwindale was great fun too

I can't quite remember, but it was no way that much. We would have used our phones otherwise as three allowed me unlimited data use in the USA with my contract

I checked our rental car contract 'cause I remember I took the navigator from there as it wasn't that expensive. 7,99USD per day.
And because my phone company charges too much money for data use in states.

I bought a GPS in the States and have used it every time I've been back.  From memory it was about $80/90 from Walmart.   Wink

Obviously I remembered the charges wrong. But as Mikko wrote, Finnish operators charge too much for data. And my choice were my own navigator. Plus tablet with loaded California, Nevada and Arizona maps.

See you at Drag Day !!!! I'll be a leg humper in the Red Baron pits !!!! LOL   -- -- The gates open early (7am) but since you're just sight seeing and not fighting for a pit spot, 9am should be a nice time to start your day!!!!

GPS is definitely recommend, especially one in your 'native' language -- We had one when we did a driving trip in Italy last year and just having instructions pop up in English eased the wife's worried mind....

All the tourist traps (Disneyland, Universal Studios, etc.) are also nice to see.... Some really great coasters at Magic Mountain and Knott's Berry Farm......

Red Baron gonna be there? Holy cow! I'll see you there then! Thanks Fiatdude.

Universal studios is a must for us, also my friend who has been in LA told me about Six Flags? amusement park. It's supposed to be the same side of the hollywood sign as universal's.

Six Flags is Magic Mountain (operated by Six Flags) -- Great park

Scott and Eric have been only running Outlaw Turbo at the Drag Day events for the past couple of years.

And Rick, if it's not too much of a trouble and you're not packed with anything else at that time, we would love to have somebody who knows the place take us on a tour through Orange County!
