Hey gents, I still have a long term project in mind.
I still would like t build a rail style dragster like the famous Berg , the Otto Bros Mosquito / Empi dragster.
Therefore I am looking for as much infos as I can get , so all buildup , rebuild pics are welcome.
Especially interested I am in how the rear track width has been adjusted and to what dimensions . Furthermore the front "beam" usually just the bar.
I dont wanna copy paste a chassis but I wanna get some good advise on the basic setup
The idea is to build it over the next years together with my sons.
My oldest one starts Jr drag racing this year .

Thanks in advance
Best regards
Sam

Thanks a lot for all those pictures ! Very very cool .
As it looks , most of those cars don t have any rear suspension at all . Just mounted rigid into the frame . Or do i just dont get the setup ?

You are right , but on this picture it looks like it is built in “fixed” with the upper bar .
So i guess not moving at all , except a little flexing . So to me most of the rails do not have a rear suspension

I still look forward on building one of those rails one day , but with less and less placed we can race , i dont know if it is worth it Sad

De Schley Brothers rail was one of the few race cars that used a type 4 engine.
Can someone give me more insight on that engine?

Rail dragster Berg / Mosquito / Empi / I now add Pank :-)
The car was built in 1977.
It used a T1 engine with cylinders, pistons and cylinder heads from Porsche 911.

I have a bit more colorful pictures on my fb album of Pank.
https://www.facebook.com/fredrik.reichel/media_set?set=a.533874296630789&type=3

The story about that engine is a bit fun too. I still have it and it runs. (Yeah, the dragster frame too)
It has been running many miles in my street car from Sweden to Italy and been a daily driver for years. Another story......

I will spend a little bit of time on this at Snow & Tell weekend now in March. "Be there or be square!"

There was one more Rail at EBI 2019 , the rollcage looked a little more modern . If i remember right the guy was from the UK .
Can t remember his name. The rail was mostly bare metal n grey with some writings on the side . Anybody got some pics or infos about that car ?

I think you mean Graham Rawlings Little Digger?
If yes, he has an album on my Aircooled Dragsters and Rails fb site.
