So how about a thread to cover what miles we put on our cars?

I'll get the ball rolling with my bug hitting 92,000 yesterday. Post monthly updates to show who's driving their lookers.

Ooh, I'm going to be rubbish at this. My car shows 36000 ish, but it's not the original speedo! What I can say is that it's done about 16 miles since last August...

No other takers? Thought it was a good idea for an ongoing thread that might liven the place up a little.

I think it's a great idea! I've been driving the absolute hell out of my car lately, 120+ mile weekends for the last 5-6 weekends in a row, plus daily duty, this is what I'm at right now. Not the original speedo, I've no idea what the ACTUAL miles are at but given my car's history, she's definitely over 200k. It's also a little fast since I have front tires that are way too short (22.58 inch diameter), so this can definitely be taken with a grain of salt.

Nice going on clocking up some big miles weekly, reckon we have the no1 contender for highest annual mileage right here already!

The only big problem is I didn't take note of the miles when I started driving mine regularly back in July!
Edit: I found some older pictures, one from back in February and it was at 35889, and the second from early August at about 36500, so I've certainly been adding a bunch!

When I started driving my '67 bug in 1994, the odometer read 99,603. I don't know why I remember that but I do. My uncle from whom I bought it told me that it had turned over once. As I was pulling into my driveway last night, it read 98,262 so in 26 years of legally driving it, I've put nearly 100k on it.

Nice records sarge. I was just kidding about your odometer having made a full trip around plus some since 2011

So technically your car has close to 300,000 miles on it these days... it's certainly earned its semi-retirement!

Haha. I guess so. I had hoped to hit the 300k mark before the 30th anniversary of buying the car but I didn't make it.

Out on night manoeuvres.

It has gone round once, so 124532 miles. I put about a thousand miles on the clock annually - bit less this year as I decided not to rush working on the fuel lines in February. And then I, well, you know...

Unfortunately I'm not able to keep it going year-round, between not having a place to keep it where I live and having to deal with Colorado weather, so this past weekend was finally time to get my Subaru cleaned up and serviced so it can take over for the Bug.

Man I thought you were talking fuel economy! I've owned my '64 since 2014 and have put a little over 18k on my 2276. as for fuel economy, NA with 44idf clones I was able to hit 31mpg (freeway), Turbo with edelbrock 600cfm hit 29.9mpg, and currently with FiTech- still tuning, but expecting that same right around 30mpg.

Not a looker I know but Got my bus back on the road in January 2020 after a 2 yr full resto and since then I’ve covered 2970 miles in it according to the new smiths electronic speedo.  couple trips to SantaPod but mostly commuting thanks to the pandemic  Undecided had many more trips planned but nearly all that got cancelled. Owned the bus for 13 yrs in total, can’t remember how many I’ve done over the years but it does get used as much as possible, I must normally put 7-8k a year on it at least.

I switched from 44’s to IDA’s while doing the resto and was excepting a bit of a drop in fuel economy but on my trips to the pod (140 miles) it’s averages about 25mpg which I’m very happy with  Grin

That's a badass looking bus, and 7-8k miles per year is nothing to sneeze at, especially running IDAs! What kind of motor do you have pushing that thing?

Thanks man, appreciate that  Cool it’s a 2110/90.5x82, FK10 cam, straight cut gears, 1.4 rockers, cb 044 ultramag heads (42x37.5) 10:1cr, full weight flywheel, IDA’s on scat tracs, a full Mallory CDI ignition & an A1 1” 5/8 sidewinder exhaust. Built 091 box and Porsche turbo brakes. Far from the fastest bus around but it’s still pretty damn quick though  and eats miles like a modern car which is exactly what I wanted
