Yeah I really love these early nineties cars!  They were an exemple for the restauration of my car back in 1994-1995.  If I ever buy a 1967 beetle, then Hectors car is the reason why.  Allthough we see a lot of beautifull 1967 beetles these days.  Hector's car was the first 1967 that made me see they were so special (especially the US-model).

This black 1967 DKP car was also in source of inspiration when I build up my car...  or perhaps it was a look-a-like with a white steeringwheel of which I can't find a picture right now...

It's the same car, Greg has a white VDM wheel  also.
As for Johnny Salgado's car, it was a very nice, fast car. It ran 12:60's 1st time out on pump gas, muffler ect. Then he got greedy & raised the compression & did a few other things. It did'nt really go any faster. It just made it more work. When he 1st joined the club he had early Fuchs, I guess he thought it looked too much like Greg B's car so he put the Centerlines on it. He wanted to do some other things so it got sold to Greg Lane and he drove it quite a bit, I remember seeing it all over the place.
   Somebody else has it now?

I'm the proud owner now. I dragged it to Arizona minus a motor. Plan to build a 2276cc in time for Bug-In, Here are some recent photos.

Thanks, I did buy it from Greg, he kept it in real good shape. The paint is still awesome for being 15 years young. It was  posted on the "other" forum  Wink for sale for about an hour before I called Greg and agreed to buy the car. It was a little nerve racking to buy a car over the Internet. But once I saw it in person I was glad I did, and to boot Greg and family are super cool Smiley

Those were my words! Wink Its not a bad interior, but its all cloth- and I mean ALL cloth. A bit monotone, and drab, IMO. I plan on something similar to the job we did on his single cab- '70s custom but very classy.
It will also recieve a few other changes, but nothing drastic. I promise it will never loose its bad attitude  Cool

Look at that golden "dealer" filled back German case. That's a nice looking engine. Bill's car is more famous than the Aronson car by now, and for good reason. It's the baddest VW out there.

Jim was not comparing styles. It was a statement of notariaty.Bill's car has been together as an actual existing car for a vastly longer period than the Aronson car and has received far more press at home and abroad than the Holmes/ Aronson car.

though I am in no mood to debate, John you're thinking exactly what I was thinking and Gary isn't. Bill's car speaks volumes about the legacy of the type of VW's we all love. The Aronson car was the first (?) to define it, but where is it now? And in my opinion, there are bits and pieces I would have changed about the Aronson/Holmes car. Bill's? Leave it as it is.  Anyway, it's my opinion. And Bill can give me $20 next time we meet up  Grin
