Always a place in my heart for these. Took a few years to build this(4 roll pans, 2 car crashes ending with a full on Dukes Of Hazard chase ending in a spin and pin move) but when I finally finished, the mrs thought it would be best to sell and remodel the kitchen! Oh how marrage changes priorities. Truck had full air ride all 4 corners, custom 3 link with panard par, rear tubed with 72' fleetside, bed moved up 3/4"and widend 1/2" to fit 10" tire, cadi lights(Danny Gabber helped me make the filler panels), blazer front end, full interior, jet black paint. the only thing that I did not do myself was sew the seats. Theres got to be a few out there that can relate to this faze!    Also added a little tease of what I've been up to lately!

cool truck Cool

It's a '49 and still has a running flathead V8.  Someday I will get to dig into that one.

Oh, I have a few other non VWs laying around. This one is a stock, unrestored 1953 English Ford Thames panel. 46k original miles, and purchased from the original owner. Sign painting is still current, add a 619 area code to that phone number and you will still get the El Cordova Garage on Coronado Island (near San Deigo). Also have a 1954 Popular 2-door and a '49 Ford Australian Tourer, and, and ......

Very cool Deano,
I knew you had some of these, but never seen any pictures. Very nice!

Yes it is and still fun for me..  What year was it? Do you still have it?
I restored a '66 911 ( a couple of times) back in '79 and still have it today. I'll post a picture of it another day.

Nothing right now, but I am itching for another early '50s Chevy pickup. (Advanced Design) One project at a time though.

Its a 70"S".  I have the 911 & P World issue with your car in it.  It was inspirational for me when I was looking for my 911.  Great car!

Jim,
You may want to check out this thread over on the early 911S Registry site.  Lotsa great early 911's there. http://www.early911sregistry.org/forum/showthread.php?t=3884

I am in a club called the RGruppe which is a hot rod early 911 club patterned after the original DKP.  In fact, Roger Grago was one of the founding members.  We all recently got together in Daytona for the big Rennsport Reunion.  The midwest bunch drove down and the California guys flew out.  It was cool, standing around a bunch of Porsches talking about VWs with Roger G, Scott Henry, Whit Hayden, Harvey Weidman and a bunch of other old Cal-look guys.  Smiley

here is another pic of my car with my buddy Jerod driving and my friend Alan's 69"S" targa on the trip to Daytona.  We are headed for california next Oct for the annual R Gruppe Treffen.  Smiley

2007 Mustang GT.  Sort of an impuse buy, hopefully never own another new car ever.
What's wrong with it? I mean - what's wrong with new Mustang, not with buying new cars.

Glen, those carts have got to be the funnest damb things! I think its called "dromo one" in anaheim, that place is bad ass. You get to line um up, qaulify and race. Nothing like the ones you have though. Whats the top speed on those? Shifters?

I checked it out...very nice, great pictures, thanks!
Yes, went on one rally with Roger and I'm guessing a club he belonged to years ago.  Fun stuff but turned into more of a race through the canyon then a rally..ha!  It was OK with me but my wife was a little on edge through it all. Grin
I see the Hayden Bros. all the time.  There just down the street from me and they service my car. Doug just help me out in getting my  seats redone in leather. All original looking now along with the good leather smell... Smiley
Fun seeing the pictures you posted of my car from the mag.  It pretty much looks the same today!

Actually the Mustang is great, I was referring to buying new cars.  I feel you lose too much when buying a brand new car, would rather buy a recent used if I were going with something late model.  Just my opinion--I can't really even talk, I have driven mostly sub-$1000 cars my whole life.  :-)

As for the Mustang, I like it a whole lot.  Ford really did a good job...the sound, the feel, the look.  And it isn't all that slow, either.
