welcome to the forum Jim,

do you have any plans for another VW?

No, sorry, no plans as of now for another VW.  I'm putting my time as of now, into getting my '66 911 back to a show room look.
Anything could happen down the road though....

I can't beleive it! Another" founding father" on this site. Can it get any better? Welcome Sir Holmes! Grin Sarge has got himself quite a posse... Mr. Holmes, do you remember who you sold the car to? I have been trying to track that car down for years and all leads end up in Hesperia, Ca. but don't know anymore than that???
Steve Niendorf.

I sold it to a guy that lived in the Brea area. His first name I think was Keith but can't remember his last. I head he later sold it to a chick and it went down hill from there. You could be right about being in Hesperia Ca. at some point. I have kicked myself for letting it go but was not a practical car for me to be driving at the time, as my sole means of transportation.
Thanks for the big welcome...

Wow... What can I say.  Brings back so many memories. Thanks for posting it! I still have copies of that 1975 issue and bring it out from time to time to relive. Not sure if Deno has any left at Hot VW's or not.

No, no they don't. And an original copy in good shape is quickly pushing $100.00.

Hi Deano!  Wow, good to hear from you! Yes, we had good times at Fullerton J.C. and Gardner Fulmer working together. This is quite the site to find friends and old ones too! Grin

Before the white car, I owned a blue ’61 with a red racing stripe running along the sides which I saw a picture of in the “Early Cal Look Section” of this site. Funny to see that car now, and how far we’ve come from those days.

Ha! Not even... The '61 was pretty much stock at the time the picture was taken. We were playing around with re-jetting the stock carb. and adding headers (built by Anchor Muffler). That was the big place to get your headers built as Sarge mentioned, in those days.
I did play with some dual Strongberg (not sure on the spelling) side drafts on single port heads after I had the car for awhile. That was big in those days... Smiley

That's it!!! They look just like the ones I had. No, can't help you out with the adjustment issue. I do remember they were somewhat of a pain keeping them so. I don't want to date myself man, but that was about 40 years ago. Shocked

You guys really ought to quit dating yourselves... I mean who's gonna pay the bill? Who's gonna lead when you dance?? Of course you're guaranteed to win any arguments.

Seeing that pic of Jim backing out of the driveway sure brings back some old memories for me.  Jim's mom was obsessed with keeping the driveway totally drip free. I can still remember the "look" I got the first time I visited and rolled up in the driveway in my '63  Shocked Wink!  I always admired that megaphone exhaust tip, too...seems like Pomeroys Muffler in Santa Ana?

It's great that the people that were there when it all started off are signing up here and contributing to The Lounge with stories from the era that gave us this hobby. Welcome for sure!

My only concern is the Lounge small print. These guys do realise that attendance at at least one of the big three (SCC, DDD or EBI) is compulsory for anyone that contributes here? Someone did tell them that didn't they?
