 Wink the same car but different things has changed : the supports of headlights became black ,the front wheels  have to change for spindles mounts wheels  , the stripping and the lettering on the doors  Shocked

The link is easy. After a few years the pros figured that they couldn't get any or much faster with their beetles because of their aerodynamics and/or weight. Fiats like the 500, 600 or 850 Spyder were also rear engined but lighter or had better aerodynamics. Then someone tried to squeeze the VW engine and tranny in there and it worked – as we know. That's it...
