Hi Russell whereabouts in Scotland do you live?  Grin

I live in a place called Carnoustie famous for golf and really cool aircooled VWs

I noticed you have a passion for cools vws as well. I saw this great liitle line about Dean Lowery on the cal-look forum from KS

Also, I remember Jack Sacchette telling how he went to race against Dean one time and looked over to him as they were coming up to the line. Dean was dragging on a cigarette which he calmly took out of his mouth, placed on top of the instrument panel and then pulled into stage... Only Dean.

Russell

I'm sure Scotlands quota of cool vws is inversely proportional to the amount of fish we allowed to catch from the North Sea. Grin

I didn't realise it was uncool for your wife to own a Fiat, does this make her an Outlaw Huh

I will have to invite a couple of friends from the fishless society to join us. Both with very cool and fast ovals.

See you all at Fiat In

My lover/wife owns a Fiat 850 with VW running gear. Tongue Sorry 'bout that

Flatfire

My question was ? How many other members live in Scotland.

Looks like only 2 of us, i did try and raise some interest via vzi but as you know it went the wrong way.....

We should get the other cool car owners to use the lounge as it seem to be the best place, very little crap, unlike vzi !

You still fancy a beer/burger next Thursday as suggested ?

Hi Russell, I'm in the middle of the sahara right now Sad

I totally understand the frustration of trying to raise interest in Scotland. I'm sure if we keep bugging people we will succeed. Grin
I'm sure we are bugging people by keeping this thread a float. Grin

I have spoken to Donald and Colin about getting something arranged for next year. These guys have major enthusiasim. I know sometimes I'm a pain in the ass when it comes to expectations but I can't understand people who don't want to put their heart and soul into cal-look,race-car,nostalgia etc etc aircooled VWs.  Grin

Cheers
Peter

I forgot to mention to anyone reading just in case you haven't noticed there is a fantastic photographic thread on the cal-look forum. California kid has so many cool old school race photos

I've been to Scotland several times, due to my partly scottish heritage, (yup, i of course got a red beard and a kilt as well) and I love it, but at the dragstrip, does it ever get dry enough to race? I always see clouds gathering when it seemes to get dusty in the streets.

Dundee United forever!!!

This is a great site by the way!!  Russell, I read your thread On VZI, and replied to it.  I think there is enough of us like minded performance fans to make a light-hearted meet work!!

So what does this mean? We have established that there are 4 good guys from Scotland what next?

I think we should be working out the plan ahead Wink Maybe go racing at Crail 3 times next year. Set the dates at the start of the year and commit ourselves. Tongue It may create more interest if we get to the track.

Aye, set dates and stick to them!!

I never even made it to Crail this year, but a non-vw friend who came along with us to the max power day last year, commented that the 2 lone VW's with stingers created far more effect than the ricers.

Yeh, I'm pretty sure he did run front bumpers a while back before going for the hex t-bars.

Won't say too much about the front tyres - the cal-look police won't be very happy Wink

I'm with you on that one dude Smiley   My car doesn't meet the cal-look criteria either.  It was built to suit me!!  I find it amusing watching people pick faults.

i fancy working for rbs in edinburgh, i've been there (long story) and i really really liked it, and the city as well! might just hop over some day and even if it's an internship taking the bug with me will be quite an adventure  Smiley
