We can't force ya to have fun

« on: October 17, 2006, 23:24:35 pm »

In the thread about where every one is from, I mentioned doing a Frappr map for the site.

I talked to our hosts, Bibbe, JHU and Beetlebug about the idea and they gave me the OK to do so.

Frappr for those of you that are not familiar is a mapping web site that allows you to stick a "pushpin" in the map so you can see where everyone in the group lives. Since the Lounge is such an international site, I think that this would be a lot of fun.

You do have to register for the site but it doesn't cost anything.

Our site is at http://www.frappr.com/?a=showmap2&mapid=2825327

So please sign up and put your pin on the map!

Ok... I added a pin for places. Now I gotta figure out where to place them!

It can be done.

If you guys have any other requested places, let me know and I'll try to accomdate you.

Right now, OCIR and Nabisco are on the list.

That's a little outside my field of reference. Could someone help me pinpoint it?

I think I found it... I just searched around Bitburg in Google Earth and found an airport. Could you check where I put it and let me know? Best way is to zoom in as far as it will let you in hybrid mode.

Unfortunately, Frappr uses Yahoo Maps which doesn't have the detail of Google Earth. I just copied over the GPS coordinates into Frappr.

Thanks,

Rick

Ok Great... I'll take the "?" off of the name.

I found out that I can add pins to the map directly. So if you want, you can PM me with your location and I can addyou to the map.

How that's looker coming along? and when are you gonna convert that split into a real looker? Cool

Hmmz... they're not coming along as fast as I'd like. Like every student I'm unfortunately on a tight budget. Sad I'm trying to get my split running this winter for Bad Camberg 2007 next year.
And I'd also like to convert my Oct '67 into a looker, which gonna cost a couple of bucks. It's hard to divide my attention and money between the splitwindow and the looker-to-be...

Ach ja... alles komt goed.. Wink

We've got 51 pins on our map. 8 are locations and 43 are Members so we have a little over 10% of our 415.

The map is here http://www.frappr.com/?a=showmap2&mapid=2825327
