Nothing super exciting.
Just took my old truck to the grocery store.
Because you need a big block Chevy to haul the groceries home.
This one is just about smiles per gallon...

The 5 car was digitized for a future video game.
They paid $500 for 2 days access to the car.
That tops the $400 I got paid for winning Bracket 1 with my VW bug at Bakersfield way back in '89.

20 years ago I made an easy switch from VW to AC Porsches.
Easy as in affordable back then.
This was my work car for many years.
Last week at the Porsche dealer getting the numbers matching certificate.
After getting a nice offer it leaves Sunday with it's new owner.
It will be my first time with nothing AC in a long time.

A few months back I finally bought a "grown up" car in the words of some friends of mine...
It's an '06 2.3t with the one-year-only "Sport Package" replacement for the Aero trim, it's got some cosmetic issues such as peeling clearcoat and a torn up front bumper cover, but there's no rust and no dents anywhere, not bad for 182k miles...
I'm just glad I finally got to scratch my Saab itch, but it figures the guy with a '67 Bug would accidentally buy his way into another weird transition year bastard car.

My car is what it is, maybe not Cal Look per the books, but it's more than most.

Could image it with a rotary or 20v black top with throttle bodies.
Made a nice change from the usual pointless Range Rovers and low spec white BMWs with stick on M badges

New suspension set up working great.
Jacking down the front end with more rebound and softer springs all around.
Best car I've ever raced.
Got 2nd out of 42 cars Saturday at big willow.
730hp 2500lbs, big tires big engine big deal lol.

Thank you.
Close it's a mid 90s Chevy Camaro shape, only the tail lights are off the production car.
Tube chassis, Ford 9 inch, 4.10 with a locker, 4 link with a Watts link.
Dog ring H pattern gear box, no clutch up shifts.
18 degree V8 with a 5 stage dry sump oil pump.

Is that a 180 degree meaning 'flat plane' crank?
Didnt know you could get them for Chevys? Must sound amazing!

18 Degree engines became available in racing back in the late 80s early 90s.
c&p
18 refers to the angle of the valves in relation to the piston centerline. The 18 degree generally flow more than the 23, and the 15 more than that.
Your standard V8 23 degree cylinder heads , even better ones available, normally an intake flow numbers in the 270 -310 CFM range.
Stock Chevrolet heads rarely surpassed 240 cfm, most of the 23 degree heads use the stock components like rocker arms, push rods, etc.
in the 12-18 degree heads normally cannot use any of the stock components, require special push rods, special rocker arms, and of course the different cylinder heads themselves, many if not most require offset roller lifter cams, special machine work, special headers, special pistons, and they are designed to work best only at high rpm (above 5000rpm) and high valve lifts (above .600 lift) port size can run 235-290cc, cost of the complete setup , including the heads, cam, rockers, pushrods, intake, and special machine work seldom come in under $4500 and frequently much higher, but you do get the increased air flow that allows a 358-410 cid displacement to make 650hp- plus in a correctly set up engine, short answer, there great if you have very deep pockets, but they are not to be thought of as a standard or a cheap upgrade.

Hey Joe like your Ghias.
This is a 92 Pancho Weaver Trans Am spec chassis.
Pancho has a very cool history of building many race cars.
Boris Said was driving a Weaver Challenger TA car recently.

Pancho makes a good car. Boris did beat our car at the stripe in Laguna Seca this year in the press release you linked but his bouncing off Chris Dyson "driving style" gave him a 40 second penalty so we ended up with the win. We have finished the last 3 years as Bride's Maids in the TA Championship. One year I might get there. SMDH

Cool stuff Joe.
I like that Pancho is still building them and Boris can still drive them with an H pattern shifter.
Do you help on Tommy's team?
Drissi has had some contact before too.

LOL, yeah Tomy is a wild man behind the wheel. His incident at Mid-O with Amy Ruman was before he came over to us at Burtin Racing, he was with Tony Ave then. He's off to Gentilozzi for 2022. So weird to see Gentilozzi coming back...
Yeah, I do all the electronic data and video acquisition for Burtin racing and all the TV in-car camera broadcasts for the series. Been a good gig for 5 years now.

Cool job, data is so important, expensive and complex.
I've enjoyed the TA races on TV and U-Tube, keep up the great work.

Entered 2022 Monterey Reunion,
late 80s IMSA GTO Camaro just before the 18 degree engine.
Period correct 23 degree 358 fresh with only dyno time.
630hp, intake to oil pan, 5 stage oil dry sump pump, power steering pump, water pump, distributor for $7k.
V8 HP is cheap compared to almost anything else.

Those are great pictures Mike! We know what happened to the red one (up to a point in the early 70s, anyway!), but I wonder what became of the blue AJ Foyt one?
