Seems like Carlsbad was THE place for the Orange County cars to show their stuff for a long, long time. We all know the original fathers of DKP had a long time "affinity" for the place. Sarge, I know you have some great stories about keeping warm (trying to?) out there.... Roll Eyes. When I first found Cal Look talk on the internet, in the late 90's, there were the DKP III Drag Days going on, and I got one of the video tapes done up by Eric and Gary Justus.....very cool footage of most of the DKP guys making some passes. Herbert's SSB too. I was lucky enough to get to run my '67 there once before Carlsbad's demise, and though the place was primitive by some standards, it was hallowed ground for me. To think of the guys that had cut their teeth there, to think of all the old photos of Dirty Dave's car, the DDS car, Sarge's car, Underdog, the DKP Drag Days.... it was like a privelege to enter the staging lanes. What a boost to have Carlsbad be the place where my car ran its best et to date too....12.66 @ 103.
So if you have stories, pictures or just enjoy talking about all that Carlsbad meant and means to the scene, chime in and share here....

(Sarge that means YOU)

The quickest the "Transporter Room" ran was 11.14 @ 124mph with the turbo engine. The Carlsbad phot was with the 2666cc Type-IV (80mm Okrasa by 103mm pistons) was 48IDA's with a little shot of nitrous. .

Here's a little burnout photo at palmdirt.

Name?? But that friggin thing was a hand full. looked like he needed a steering break to get down the track! It carried the wheels 1/2 track! Very cool to watch him hang on to it. Definitely not a "just point it" situation.
