maybe a problem with flange adapter? I don't think HP1's typically have a problem leaking.

Dump the Fram, and use a Wix 51515R - i have switched over and not a single drip, leak, or adverse effects from big oil pressure.

Filter adapter is the problem that I have with mine. Mill it down a bit than it should be OK.

Right. I've seen some where the center threaded fitting was screwed in cockeyed.

This is getting a real pain in the butt.
When starting from cold the oil is now dumping out between the filter and the filter mount.
I tried changing the oil to 15/40w from 20/50w filed the mount flat, changed the filter and its still doing it
I take it this is because the weathers getting a little cooler and the oil is thicking up because its colder.
The oil pressure is not real High, it starts at about 30 psi on tick over going down to 20psi when hot
What would you do?
I think that its the filter mount, I've been looking on the internet and seen a Jay cee filter mount with a pressure release valve to stop this, any good ? If not what do you run. I've got an empi one fitted

Bruce I had a look this morning and to be honest I think that the filter mounts is the problem. It dosent look 100% square between the treaded part and the face as you say. Its been ok up to now but as the weathers getting cooler here, its been playing up. Where would you be able to get a good quality mount that exits to the left. I just want to be able to get in the car and drive it Ron

It was a shame the drags in devon were closed down but we're still on the look out for a venue in the central south west to be able to run our cars. Hope to be getting my ghia back from Alex real soon Maybe we can arrange an outing with a few cars over xmas, there's usualy a few good days over the holidays.

Right, I now have the new CSP fillter mount on and this has solved the leak beween the fillter and the mount. I also tried the csp fillter but it was leaking on a run between the two parts of the fillter ( its the re-usable type). Both Items are or great quality as usual form CSP but they havent solved the problem. I thought i'd give a normal fillter a go again as the leak had stoppped between the the fillter mount and the fillter. I didnt have time to run it after fitting the new fillter so I started the car this morning to check, the car had been out all night (air temp about + 3 1/2 C ) the fillter burst open just under the the rim of ther fillter and dumpped the oil. What am I doing wrong. Going back to basics the oil line comes out of the oil pump cover to the fillter mount via the port marked in then flows throught the fillter ( when it works) then out via the out port to the oil cooler, then out of the oil cooler back to the engine via the tapping in the case. Right or wrong ?? should I be running a oil stat . Please any help would be great

YOU HAVEN'T GOT A KINK IN THE OIL HOSE HAVE YOU? or a badly made oil fitting or the touch of boom boom (sorry CAPS LOCK) could have the same effect as squeezing the end of a garden hose and giving way too much pressure

tried that one didnt last long YOU HAVEN'T GOT A KINK IN THE OIL HOSE HAVE YOU? or a badly made oil fitting or the touch of boom boom (sorry CAPS LOCK) could have the same effect as squeezing the end of a garden hose and giving way too much pressure
I was thinking that I may have a blocked / kinked oil line on the way to work today. Looks like I be under the car again tonight checking. As for the touch of BOOM BOOM looks like its rubbing off, or maybe its a virus, Boomboomlitis or something
