Really impressed with the paint inside Cheers - Thats all down to Gavin, I know you're familiar with his work, hard to beat! if you want me to give Matt ahand for a day let me know, Ive some little experiance at getting these things back together.......
Thanks for the offer, I think we may be calling you up on this. :-) Speaking to people who have done it before and can offer advice and assistance makes it much less of a mountain to climb.

Sal got her floorpan back this week. Cris & Co had been finishing it off back at the Birkshop and we all helped load it in his Caddy and trundle it over. Job done, time to 'Steve' at it with coffee in hand. Sal can't believe it's actually home at last. Body shell looks amazing. Its going to take longer to build if your only using one hand Matt..

Guys, be careful. If you let Russel help, he might just paint it blue and make a Klingaman replica out of it while you guys drink a nice cup of milky tea.. So i guess the shell is on it's pan now, you've had it for ages...

I think we'll be holding a process review at some point, some good thinking. ... constantly drinking cups of milky tea ...
... all stood around ...
There's probably a bit more of that still to do. ... So i guess the shell is on it's pan now, you've had it for ages ...
Not quite but it's nearer to the pan than it was, not quite the same I know but there are some parts off for work and others which need to go out so there is progress but of a less visible sort.

It's a little bit slower at the moment as there are a couple of parts we're having trouble getting good ones of (vent windows) and there are other parts that are off for being made shiny. It's just that they're most of the bits needed to get started. What's another few months, it's only been 5 years since it was a Birthday present.

very very nice Whats the plan with the interior btw,? Cheers, Kev I wanted it to be like it was originally but a bit different if that makes any sense so I got Bernie to trim the interior to match some front seats I got. Although I have a mirror which is OK I'm looking to see if I can get one that's perfect so if anyone has a perfect or very good right hand drive 11185751P to sell please let me know... Hello, Do you have some pics of your front seats? I interested as I am using a pan with the late 3 ponit seat mounts. Thanks David Gouk

The seats come with general mounts so the guys at Cris' shop welded in some mounts to 'translate' the stock mounts to the new seats, basically there's a mount welded to the seat rails and two small mounts welded onto the front mounting. I can get some photos during the week if it helps? All the original mounting points on the pan are still there.

Sorry to go off topic Sal and Mat! David, my Dad and I put some Recaro seats into a Mk2 Golf belonging to a friend using the standard three point runners. We cut down a pair of Polo seats to get the tubework and the centre adjusting slider as one chunk, then modified the rear legs to fit the outer sliders for angle, width and height. The top of the tubework had strips of 5x25mm bar welded across and then drilled to bolt the seats to. The Golf floor is much the same as the Beetle one, so I'd try to get some cheapy seats from any '80's/'90's watercooled VW. Haven't got any pictures, but a man of your talents should be able to sort out what I mean... Neil

Hi Neil, Thanks for the reply. My problem is that im trying to make the interior look old school. I have a pair of mexican seats and I am thinking I will remove the recliner and all the plastic crap and make new legs for the seat back, so it looks like a 72 down seat. Thanks.
