Finally did some work on VWrankenstein again. Started working on the upper Shock mounts Took out the rubber, shortend the the Porsche mount and made a plate to close the underside of the Porsche mount. Test fit the bearing Busch Underplate fits like a glove. After some welding and grinding, I fitted the bearing. Looks pretty original. This bearing fits the Golf1 shocks perfectly Bottomview Paul.

Today again found some time for VWrankenstein. To make sure there was enough space for wheel movement I bought Golf1 shocks. The Golf1 shock are about 5,5cm shorter. Here's the difference. Now the struts had to be shortend too. And again some trail fit. (I used the wrong (too big) wheels) Paul.

I know your not finished yet Paul but I'd be looking to tack some strengthening webb's to those towers , as I'm not sure the shape of the inner is quite up to the potential extra pounding from the shock tops Looking good though bud

Yep, the cage will run from under the dash to the top mounts and will end in the spare wheel well, on the A-arm front mounts. from top to top will be a removeble brace.

The horn bracket had to move, no suprise what was under there. So a little repair was needed. The right front suspension is ready (for now), so it's time to start doing it all again on the left side. Paul.

Change of plans. I wasn't happy with the A-arm mounts I made in the spare wheel well, so I took out the grinder and started all over again. No way back now. Made a new spare wheel well bottom. I will make a lower part in the middle for the battery. Paul.

Today I copied the right A-arm mount to the left. Now it's time to weld it, grind it and weld it in place. Paul.

Time to close the sides of the spare wheel well (inner wings) Made a new sheet metal piece and welded it in place. All nice again Fitted the left A-arm so that I can start on the upper mount. Also tried the Porsche skitplate. It's a small piece to protect the front of the torsiontube. Next step; change the front strut again. Now I will weld the top piece of a golf strut to the Porsche strut. This way the golf shocks will axially fit Paul.

On the left side the hood releasecable has to move The hood releasecable will run on the front of the topmount, you can also see the top of the shock coming through the innerwing. Starting to look like where getting there. Paul.
