I was thinking that these heads or the likes of those offered by Brothers are probably the best heads for a typical street car on the basis that they do sets which are pretty much identical batch on batch which means that you are much closer to being able to just bolt one on in the event of a problem than you are with some of the CNC stuff on offer. I have some Wedgeprts and they got a load of work put into them before they were put on the motor and not being that impressed I'm either going back to my Pauter Bs or will pick something up from UD. For the price I reckon these are probably pretty good, I think they're probably pretty good for a few more $$$ too.

Many people are using Steve Tims stage 2 headsmbut thing that bothers me is,how durable they are.

I have to run 10.5 compression with FK45,and this heads are unwelded,I wonder how long would it take them to crack somewhere.....

I know If I buy them,I would have to change everything in my case, springs to stronger items and titanium retainers.

The price is just great as it is.

@ Mat Sanchez: Are the Brothers VW Mid D's welded or unwelded?

Steve likes to use genuine VW Mexican 043 heads.  These heads have the best metalurgy of any head in existance.  Durabilty is not a problem.

Next what bother me,are they good for the high lift of my cam.FK 45,561 lift,I know Steve has some special springs for high lift applications.

IMO, you are going about it wrong.  You don't tell the head porter what cam you're gonna use, he tells you what kind of lift and duration his ports need to make hp.  Any cam you pick is likely to make less hp than the one he suggests.

Whatever cam he suggests, he will make sure the head can accomodate it's lift.

The ones Sal bought for her Bug are welded and I think Brothers add the usual material on all their heads but I'm not sure.  Smiley

doesen't he ship with USPS,that's regular USA post mail,I have used Priority mail international on all my orders from USA,when I got my case from Brothers VW,then when I got my crank and flywheel, and all other orders.

The only question is,if he is willing to ship with USPS.

Priority is 6-10 days to europe. For a set of heads I calculated you for germany: it is $106.50

shipping is the smallest problem for me here in Croatia.

The biggest problem is when the parts come to the customs,I have to pay 32% to the hole price of the parts(and shipping must be included in the customs quote).

10% customs
22% country tax
 Shocked

I have another question regarding the O43 heads.

Do all 043 heads have small sparkplugs like 044?

The Tims heads use standard plugs. Called them last year but went for cb wedge ports in the end.

I think a lot of what Steve and Greg do comes from years of being down the street from Fumio.  I wouldn't hesitate to use their heads.  The best part of using Timms, Denham, Crawford, Fumio, Berg is that you get some input from these guys on what you've come up with for an engine combination.  When you buy off-the-shelf, you miss those recommendations to some degree.  Good heads are the most important part of the project, so spend wisely.

Dirk, let us know if Steve ships via USPS so we donīt have to ask him the same question again and again. Iīm in Europe too and strongly considering a purchase.

You should ask him if the FK-45 will work well with his heads.  If the answer is no, then for the cost of a new cam, it is a no-brainer.  You could sell that cam.

Maybe the shipping is so high because of packaging,or the large box Sad

Please use the USPS shipping calculator, this is what every seller uses to calculate shipping to your location.Set of heads is usually from 25-28lbs.

About 2 years ago the USPS eliminated surface mail as a low cost shipping option.  It is that much because it goes air mail now.
