Yes, and I can vouch for the blender of which used to reside in the trunk of a certain Savannah Beige '67 Beetle.

A most excellent query, my friend. Because I honestly can't remember. Did that technology exist way back then? C'mon... we're talkin' 1980-'83. Ya know... the dark ages.

HAHA!! I see that Rick's D.K.K. potent Mai Tai recipe did it's job correctly, yes?

It actually was a 12v blender... I scored it from a motorhome/travel trailer place in Santa Ana.

Perfect. So, 'tis safe to assume that your '67 and/or Notchback had the lighter accessory, yes?

No... I ran a wire from the battery that came out in between the panel under the seat and the carpet and ended in a 2 wire plug. Originally I rigged it up so I wouldn't have to pull out the seat to charge my RC car. When I found the blender, I just cut off the end and crimped on a similar plug

Man, I thought I was the only geek to get into RC racing. I made the same battery mod in my bug. There was a time that every other entry in my checkbook was for a hobbyshop! I even used to do custom paint jobs for other folks RC cars to help feed my RC monkey!

Here's a pick of my highly modified RC10 Baja I used to race at a track in Costa Mesa I think [long time ago].

Did some off road racing but mostly on road racing.

in '92 I was Norrca Southern California 1/12th scale champion. I also finished 8th in the Norrca 1/10th scale Stock National Championships out of 60+ racers. I was the only racer in the A-Main that was there on my own dime (not sponsored). Everyone I raced against had more $$$ in NiCad batteries than everything I brought to the track with me.

When i joined there were two official requirements.  Rims / lowered...  From these two simple requirements grew the greatest trend setting VW club of all time.  People had so much pride combined with innovation and desire to be the best modivated us to improve our cars and help others do the same...  Wow i just got a tear...
But i do remember the unofficial (you had to drink like fish) rule...

But i do remember the unofficial (you had to drink like fish) rule...

I remember the car had to have a decent paint job, engine had to be clean whether it was huge or stock. And the overall car had to have been finished and presentable. As far as the fish theory is concerned... dunno, I must've somehow barely squeaked in, 'cause I only drank like a microscopic guppy. Wasn't ever a big drinker. Long as I had my dark bier(s), I was a happy camper. But I DID get a nickname that stuck all of these years due to the fact that I LOVE to eat food. Fred Flintstone.

 Grin

Heck, I was just stoked that there were freaks, like me, that wanted to have fun. That was the number one priority and the call of the day. And if said fun was had the expense of others... even BETTER.

HAHA!!

Yeah, when I told the club that I was planning on installing a VW engine in this, and I was gonna paint it orange, they said... maybe.

Hence the having fun at the expense of others theory in effect. Well played, Sir Long.
