Title: Re: 12.65 Second 1953 Barndoor Post by: wheelerdealer on April 28, 2009, 20:50:46 pm thank you very much for the kind words - we´d a blast that weekend!
The engine is 2840 (105x82) with eP heads and btw the run was with headwind that we had the whole weekend there ;) Tranny is Type1 Rhino case 3.88 r&p 1st & 2nd is stock (! ... and we´re sure that will break sometime) and short welded 3rd and 4th. The car is full steel, no turbo, no nitro, no knick-knack ... just engine ... and the drivers are +/- 200pounds of weight and look as used as the car ... :D :D :D http://wheelerdealer-blog.blogspot.com/ Title: Re: 12.65 Second 1953 Barndoor Post by: flatfire on April 28, 2009, 21:01:55 pm A superb sight, seeing the brick flying up the track. :)
The head wind was pretty strong. Title: Re: 12.65 Second 1953 Barndoor Post by: cal-look 56 on April 28, 2009, 23:33:08 pm Very impressive guys, good job.
Title: Re: 12.65 Second 1953 Barndoor Post by: SlingShot on April 29, 2009, 00:10:48 am The car is full steel, no turbo, no nitro, no knick-knack ... just engine ... and the drivers are +/- 200pounds of weight and look as used as the car ... :D :D :D How much does the bus weigh? And do you race with the middle seat in it :D Title: Re: 12.65 Second 1953 Barndoor Post by: wheelerdealer on April 29, 2009, 07:29:18 am The car is full steel, no turbo, no nitro, no knick-knack ... just engine ... and the drivers are +/- 200pounds of weight and look as used as the car ... :D :D :D How much does the bus weigh? And do you race with the middle seat in it :D The original weight is 1080kg. With the Type4 engine and the IRS axle I think roundabout 1100kg ... + driver = 1200kg ;D and we drive it with 2 separate seats in the front ... the only "luxury" accessory beside the shift light (still running without tach ... no knick-knack at all) Title: Re: 12.65 Second 1953 Barndoor Post by: alfie the monster on April 29, 2009, 11:17:54 am Walter say's it's heavy with the President on board ;)

Seems to be just getting into 4th before the lights?? Needs a closer 'box! Or are you leaving some "room for improvement"? ;) Title: Re: 12.65 Second 1953 Barndoor Post by: wheelerdealer on May 05, 2009, 06:34:53 am we choosed that gear ratio because we thought that we would be faster at the end of the track ... but the aerodynamic resistance is really hard when you race a rolling fridge ...
Title: Re: 12.65 Second 1953 Barndoor Post by: Fasterbrit on May 05, 2009, 08:42:39 am Great video Tom! 8) One question: what are 'no nick-nacks' ?
Title: Re: 12.65 Second 1953 Barndoor Post by: jamiep_jamiep on May 05, 2009, 08:57:13 am Are we talking about those little packets of crisps? ;D

"knick-knack" .. ;) just kidding .. e.g. Spez is still the opinion that a tach would look silly at the dash .. so we still race using our butt & ears ... Title: Re: 12.65 Second 1953 Barndoor Post by: Fasterbrit on May 05, 2009, 20:10:34 pm
we still race using our butt & ears ...
No wonder you broke your shifter at Big Bang then ;D I find hands and feet work better when racing ;D |
