Insulation tips

I want my car to be more quiet. I plan on installing my rear seat soon, so hopefully that will help. A friend told me that I need to stuff something in the openings of the roof channels to reduce the IDA noise. Stock rubber mounts would probably help, but I have polyurethane right now.

Currently I have the stock jute padding on the rear parcel tray/wheel wells, "angel hair" under the headliner, and 1/4"(6mm rubber mat between the pan and carpet.

What have you used to quiet the cockpit of your hi-po beetle?

  I have those. They are even the special ones with the rubber strand between the two. I like to hang them off the rear view mirror after I use them. Gets people thinking.

Maybe I should get the airplane ear guards with intercom system or f-16 fighter helmets with the fresh air hose.

I would use dyna-mat to stop vibrations on all panels then trim over the top.  this includes inside rear quarters.

What about some expanding foam in the open channels in the roof towards the engine bay?

earplugs it is!!! it is very light as well. it's the t-bars of insulation!

If you have a backseat, stuff a thick blanket in the luggage well back there.
