Chronometric tach

Anyone out there tried a repro chronometric tach mfg. by Stack?
For the colonial kiddies out there, check out the openings scenes from the 1966 film "Grand Prix". The musical  score, the screaming F1 engines, the Smiths chronometric tachs, very impressive.
I long ago abandoned the dream of adapting a Lucas dist to a VW, so I could use a real Smiths chronometric tachometer, maybe just maybe.........
one of these could mimic the real thing?
For you UXB guys, I don't care about accuracy, since I shift by the seat of my pants anyway.

maybe you could adapt an old 356 cable drive oil pump?

you're right about the movie Gran Prix, the footage of all the slide valve injection, the screaming Cosworth-Fords, and the flicking tach needles...very cool. In the movie Le Mans, there some great shots of the 917's mech-tach flickering between 7000 and 8000 revs as McQueen guns #20 through the last few laps, chasing the 512 Ferrari.

I definitely like the new Smiths chronometric tach!  But that presents a whole new set of (good) problems.
As for the Porsche oil pump drive, great idea! if only an original Smiths tach stayed in sync out of sight of Greenwich,
England. Or just plain worked at less than fifty per cent humidity...God its fun to bag on things British.
But, I don't think my relatives in the UK would agree with me.

What about the Speedwell gauges in the british racing green car (BRM?) then.. (not in the opening scenes but later in the movie)

Both Vertex (Hunt, Ronco...) and Mallory mags were available with mechanical tach drives...
