The dates for this years UK CAL LOOK DRAG DAY INVITATIONAL are as follows:

Date: May 22nd & 23rd 2010
Venue: Santa Pod Raceway

This years event will follow the same format as last years. A Pit Area will be set aside for the participants from the Saturday, allowing people to run both in RWYB and in the Peak Performance on the Sunday. Camping will be available adjacent the pit area.

Tickets are available directly from the Santa Pod website http://www.santapod.co.uk/

The weekend entry ticket if purchased in advance is £15 per person/£20 on the gate.

Track Fee for Saturday (RWYB) is £25 for unlimited runs.

Track Fee for Sunday (Peak Performance) is £50 advance/£60 on the day, maximum 100 cars, unlimited runs on a FULLY prepped track.

There will be a small show & shine on the Saturday evening to take place in the pits, and action on the strip in earnest will take place on Sunday.

Date: August 07th & 08th 2010

Prices are to be confirmed.

Not only will A.C.E. be out in force at York, but a special treat is in store for all those who love nostalgia, as the 'Wild Bunch Nostalgia Racers' will be there all weekend showing how the V8 crowd did it back in the day.

Awards will be issued at both dates as follows:

Show & Shine:
Best Cal Looker
Best Engine

Strip:
Quickest Full Bodied (Treads)
Quickest Full Bodied (Slicks)
Quickest N/Asp
Quickest NOS/Turbo
Quickest Car of the meet

PROWAGEN have very kindly put forward prizes for the quickest car of the meet at each date. The prize is a £150 shopping voucher for use in their store. They will also be awarding a FAIL award at each event for the first major failure of the event - this will be in the form of a Gene Berg sweatshirt, and it should keep the winner copy while they gather together the piles of parts that used to be functioning vehicles Wink.

Entry is open to aircooled VW Engined sedans, coupe's and buggies that are capable of completing a 1/4 mile in under 15.99 seconds.

There's not long til the first meet at Santa Pod, so good luck with the spannering, we hope to see as many of you there as possible!

Hi there. Is entry to the events strictly aircooled' only? Or is there provision to allow Flat four VW motors with water cooled heads? Or WBX motors? Cheers

Hi Matt, yes, although I've not mentioned it in the info above such vehicles would be welcome as long as they're VW flat fours.

It's a mighty long way to York but I would be keen to put down some rubber at Pod Grin

That is I was keen until my better half told me I am in no way to think about going, as it's the same weekend that her best friend gets married (for the second time) Sad

Thank god there's a willing volunteer! I "developed an allergy" to tequila at university - I can't even have one shot before puking now! Embarrassed Lips Sealed

Anyway, to drag this back on topic, I'll see if I can get down to the Pod this year as I completely missed last year! Cheesy

Am I being a fool, or is this event not listed on the Santa Pod? I suspect the former!  Grin

No Paul, it is their standard weekend entry for the dates in question plus if you race the Peak Performance tickets that are required - we just pull it together as an event kind of off our own backs, Santa Pod provide the track and a big pit space dedicated to us, which is cool.

Grass roots stuff Wink no bollocks, dressing up in weird outfits or seventies discos, just full on hardcore track action....

If you come down you'll love it, everyone has a few beers (or a cup o tea) in the pits on the Saturday night, a good laugh with a bunch of similarly minded individuals, then its all about laying the rubber onto the tarmac on the Sunday.... PUNCH IT!

I Can't wait Wink

Hopefully see you there.

Seconded re: your car Adele, would be very cool to see it running. I would think you'd be in with a good chance of the £150 prize shopping spree off Prowagen - you too Matt if you make it down!

Right, I emailed you, most likely not going to race but will bring the bug along and meet and greet, etc. etc.

Bit diappointed no car wash, and some dick in a transit blaring crap dance through a binatone stereo at 4am  Angry
