Just had to share since it has been a goal of mine for years. I drove my 67 to the track last night and made my first four passes in it. The car worked flawlessly....I wish I could say the same for me....LOL  It was a "street drag" night so there were lots of turbo imports and V8 Mustangs. My best ET was a 13.4 @99.2 MPH spinning bad all the way through first, ...........that had a LOT of people trying to peek under the decklid when I got back into the staging lanes...Wink Did my first second gear line lock burnout on my fourth pass too.  After all of that I got to drive it home (20+ miles). What a great night in a Cal-Lookish VW. Big thanks to Java Bug for his encouragement and "coaching" he got me through my nervousness.

Congratulations, you now have a proper Cal-Looker.  Drove to the track, dismayed a Mustang GT on slicks, and drove it home.  And the car looked bitchin' doing so.

I will be happy if I can make a such time for my first quarter mile session...
Good job.
And, in fact, I find cool too that's you drive to the track, runs and come back home without problems.  Cheesy

Thanks everybody it is definetly a dream come true, actually it's  just a million hours of working on my stuff and others to get it done and pay for it. No pictures from the track this time too many other details to sort out. The car runs a 2276 in a cherry F.I. case with CB Wedgeports, CB 5.5 inch H beams, 9.5 to 1 comp, 86b, Bosch Blue with a 010/MSD 6AL, Berg 1 3/4" merged, and some good old IDA's. The gearbox is a very late IRS(zig zag rib) with Weddle super diff  and close third and fourth, solid mounted. Both pieces were expertly built by my buddy "Ohio" Tom Simpson. By the way my 13 year old son says next time I better "beat on it". He was talking smack to Java Bug the whole time I was out there running it! Roll Eyes Here are some shots you might like of the car.

Yeah who had more to say on the ride home:  you, Ian, or the car?  I don't think Ian took a breath the whole night.
