The Carlsbad trip when Ratto made his 12.66 run Smiley This was a great trip and we got to spend time with a lot of very cool VW guys from the US and Europe.

When were these pics taken? I'm pretty sure that the black bug in the 4th one belongs to my friend Eddie and I think he went to Carlsbad in '98 or '99.

I believe I was there.  That was the first time I took my car down the strip.  My wife and I drove over from Phoenix.  I made one pass and hung around long enough to get a T-shirt then left to go back home.  Made it home from Carlsbad to Phoenix in six hours.  Bye the way my pass was lousy with a 1 second reaction time.  ....are you sure that's a green light?

My homeboy Eddie (whose black '63 is in the 4th pic) is pretty sure it was October of '99.

That was a fun time.  I have a good pic of Ratto with his car in the lanes that I need to find.  Remember the pizza place afterwards.....good times!

Cool pictures! Jim, call me stupid but I still do not get what your plate reads.

Good choice on the wider front tires. I plan to do the same thing when I get new wheels for my car.

I missed that show..  dang it  I have two Aufklarung newsletters I just found with the logo. One is dated Sept 28,1997 and the other is dated Oct 26,1997. That's when me and Mark took 1st place at the rally. Well we got the furthest with the SHEEPIES painted on the ground. Poor Brian with the paint in his car  LOL   The second rally was also won by Team Kyle & Mark ...and no we didn't see you and Brian posting the signs. It had to have been another bug ...hahaha     Kyle
We owned the roads of Livermore..  just wanted you to know that

I had to stop twice for gas on this trip. It was the first week I had IDA's on my car. I had to listen to April bitch the whole time, nothing new though. Grin
