Interesting discussion regarding Jussi Nurmi.

What if you have a car with a perfect paint job, preferably one-tone. Super build finish, beatiful polished wheels, lowered front end, chrome intact, a fast screamer engine..... and a lowered rear end with DOT`s. In other words, a resto looker capable of doing 10`s or 11`s. Would it be a Big Gun?

Hi Karl-Magnus,

it would be just a fast Resto Cal. What about a street legal German Style car? It would be just a fast street legal German Style car.
This is a platform for Cal Look fans and the rules for the Top 20 state:

"Lookers":
VWs with the "look" and licence plates, without any supercharging, NOS or Turbo. Stickers etc. will not exclude anyone from this list.

The "look" is Cal Look, right? Not "fast-car-with-plates" look. IMHO Jussis car should be removed.

Please don't get me wrong, nothing against Jussi or his car, it's just no Cal Looker.
Cheers,

Georg

Maybe we should do a new list, if cal-lookers arent enough for everyone... With a class of "Driveable streetcars" it could be  possible easier, because  every country has different regulations of streetcars.  We could also do a little cruising + filling gasoline from normal gasstations+ highway-driving before raceday so no-one need to wonder if they really work or not in streetuse Grin

If that kind of changes comes, im on!
Or should we all just have shining coloured cars?Huh

The reason why "Look" is stated in quotes in the rules is that we didnt want to be as strict as the guys over at cal-look.com.
I think we need to focus less on details (within reasonable limits offcourse) and more on the fun of racing :-)
"The Look" has been through a few decades now and it has changed throughout the years, but lets not start on another "what is cal-look" thread :-)

Trond, we don't have to discuss what Cal Look is. Everybody has his a slightly different opinion about that. But I would bet that no one on here would call Jussi Nurmis car a Cal Looker!

And - if you look at the "rules" for Big Guns:

"Big Guns":
Gassers, buggies, racecars and "Fiats" without supercharging belongs here, with or without licence plates. Even Lookers if they lack licence plates. After all, this is the "Cal-look Lounge" Big Guns says it all, these guys means business!

Sentences might be porely written, but it says Even Lookers if they lack licence plates. After all, this is the "Cal-look Lounge".
So the emphasis is on "even cal-lookers if they are not street legal" will go into the big gun....
I agree with you that it should have relevance that the top20 list is a looker list but my "problem" is where we draw the line for which "box" we put cars in. Its not always an easy job, and I dont want to get fanatic over it. (ref sticker issues on "the other forums list").

Cool idea Jussi!! I like it!! How about meating up with me and cruise with me to Bug Run from say Linköping......two High Po cars side by side on some cool roads, not the E4 comute highway.....maybe make film out of it so all with trailer cars can have an insight on how it feels to use there cars Smiley When I think of it a liitle more, as people love cars in motion and attracts by hard core actions we would probably end up with a caravan of High Po Volkswagens and that would be cool. Not just having the time slip dimension to look back on, but also the meeting with friends and seing cars in front of you and in the rear view mirror would take the scene one step further. just my 2 cents......................

No need to get worked up, I have probably just made a mistake... I agree it looks like a race car and not a street legal car.
I will look at it more tomorrow and fix it.

Added Endre Dambo to the list who raced his beautiful 67 for the first time @ SCC.
With a slipping clutch he still managed to squeeze his way down to 13.03.

The list is based on submissions by the drivers. I have no overview over what people are running throughout a season :-)
That said, there are a few updates waiting to be added, so stay tuned

After the server crash I have had some minor issues with the top racers part that have until now prevented me from updating the list. I really just wanted to focus on getting this and other forums/sites im running up again before fixing and updating this list.
So anyways.. just updated the list with new times and new people :-)

First off let me appologize for not updating the list in "forever". It won't happen again :-)

Now over to the changes. I have added theese submissions to the lists:
  • Jussi
  • Paul Bate
  • Jeroen/DVK
  • Erwann Ropars
  • Allan Ostrup
  • Thomas Kemp

Before adding 2010 entries I will change the functionality on the lists so previous year can bee viewed when we switch the current list to this years (which means it will look empty to begin with).

Also I might have another surprise later :-)
