the race shop looks to me like a good place to go in the 70's, there were so many nice looking and fast dragracecars coming from them. but not much streetcars... is this so or did people go there to have their engines built?
and maybe someone can tell the story and tell us about when the cars were made (ghia, slalomcar, two 67's,...)
I think it must be a good story and a suitable topic here on the Lounge to dig into that history a bit further.

That sticker is a repro (notice the spelling of centre), just FYI. Unless you were based in Riverside, most went to a shops in Orange County or LA. Riverside was way the hell up there back then! I also think that Vittone's shop may have been a little exotic and $$$ for most street guys. I can't think of too many guys who could afford a set of Fumio Heads for their street car. Not that Vittone couldn't build one bad ass street engine! We simply were not worthy.

maybe that is it, entire engines by him must be rare. i can't really think of articles stating an engine by the raceshop. but maybe somebody is fessing up and tells us the story of his raceshop engine
and nobody went there for parts and advice?

If the author of the feature in the February 1975 issue of Volkswagen Greats tells the truth, then I know where the heads of Darrell Vittones Fiat Spider finally went...

I recall the angle exhaust heads started out on the Fiat, then went over to the A/MC '67. Then, on to a sandrail at Glamis....
Another little tid bit. When I had Fleming & Aronson build my heads for my sandrail, circa 1975 (welded, 40x35.5), they ran about $400. At the same time, Fumio heads were double that figure.

Deano, In that same 1975 time frame, I got set back about $650 for my Berg 40X35.5 heads. Should'a gone to F&A!

Yes, and to give you an example. I paid $425 for my Becker Paint job two years prior....
