the car in the five pics above is in DYNO DON'S hands to be redone, yes its all the same car bought by Dick Roy's VW and changed colors ,it was the old TRUHAFT racer........it's noted in the april 07 HOT VW magazine....that it will be turned back as the TRUHAFT race car and pilot'ed by DYNO himself..!!!! |

Dick Roy....The green car picture I took at either a Bug-In or Drag Day around '79. He had two shops in the later 80's. One on Central, in Chino, and the other off Central on Foothill, I think it must have been Montclair. When I moved to Chino (in '85), that was the only shop in the area that I would go to.

to bad it's sitting in a Japan warehouse with alot of other cars from the 70's & 80's collecting dust.... i say warehouse ,,it's not even that...cars are subject to put up with year around weather..  ......it was a bad little street car in it's day..!!!!!....i think it ran a small turbo with a side draft carb it it's days on the street.... Dear friends, I personally have been to this warehouse, well it's Akira's place and he takes good care of his old callook cars believe me he's also the guy helping out super vw to put together the bug in dvd respect for this guy, and it's true in Japan they don't come out often but he has a warm home for them genuine gassers and early racers Gunter |

I think that some of the cars in the collection have Japanese links going back to the day too, as well as Fumio there were a few other guys from Japan working out of So-Cal on VW stuff. There's some good historical knowledge over there.  |
