anyone notice the Ballast Weights?? Back in the Old Days They added weight to the car, notice the placement in line with the rear axle there was a bracket welded between the frame horns with two studs so weight plates could be added of taken out. weight plates were also ran in the front of some cars  to balance out and tune the weight transfer picture shows 30 lbs added to the Inch Pincher

Don't be too sure about the weight of those lead plates. Often, racers write on them what they want "others" to think they are using. While in reality, they could be a LOT more. Same thing applies today with RPM chips. Open cars with exposed MDS boxes are often looked at very closely by other racers. So, the labels are often changed to throw them off track.... "Hmm, a 2500 rpm launch chip..." Just FYI.

After browsing thru 25 pages of Gassers, I'm surprised to not find any pic's of DKP I racers like Don Crane, Dave Patrick or Whit Haydon, who ran in L or K gas. As per the rules I'll post a couple of pic's of my old (pos) club racer.

First white van belonged to Audley Campbell and his Stuttgart High Performance shop in Culver City,CA. His car, the famous Stutt Bee was there at Carlsbad, and I will post that photo later on. Schley told me that VoA told Audley, he could not call his car "Stutt Bug" so he changed the name to Stutt Bee. Can you believe that!
