At Bergs Bugin #36 The Famous Sonic Muffin

Doug and I dated sisters (Karen and Trudy) back in 78-80 or so, and went on a few double dates in the "Muffin", good times, always alot of fun,  that car is famous for "much more" than being a famous race car-street car, if you know what I mean... Huh Shocked Wink   I also got to drive it a bit and made a few passes at Brotherhood Raceway (Terminal Island 1/8th mile) 7.20s if I remember correctly , but I do remember the sisters being a bit "faster" and harder to handle at the big end.......... Cheesy  Great times..............sorry for going a little off topic.    Doug would agree.

Not restored, just given a thorough clean up and detail. I'll bet that every chip and scratch tells a story.  Smiley

Love all the vw drag racing history pics , from all around the world .
I'm lucky enough to be helping with the rebuild of Peter Keegan's Camel car now owned by Rod Richardson .
Car is a roller now , next is motor and final paint work (camel colours )
Peter recieved a pioneer award last year for what he and his brother Brain have achieved in Austrlian drag racing .( Peter on left of pic)

Nico I took that photo yesterday, when we delivered the car, I did already post it in the 'Cool Pics' thread and Simon asked me if he could post it on their Facebook page.
Here's the same picture from a different angle  Smiley

wow, so great that this car is there at the museum! what a beautifull piece!

i know they drove it during ebi 4, but what's the likelihood of getting paul or mark back behind the wheel for a pass in the states...? or once the lightning bug II is finished, get the bros in each of them and go heads up!! or any plans to do the show circuit this year with it...? Cool

Peter K is one very nice guy , He had run so many national drag records here ( et & mph) and won many events from 1970 to 1982 to he retired from racing .
All so a trip to New Zealand to match race a big block ford escort too. Car was shiped over there .
Peter K had just given us his old folders with Photo's , paper clippings , slides , record cards , magazines storys , and the big one , sponsor contract & guide lines from Camel Filter .
Rod recieved a jacket (Camel Filter ) from Peter K witch blew him away .
