I can remember talking to Bernie about painting his car and discussing the fact of paying homage to Tar Babe ....never thought it would re appear..let alone be in Scotland..and we would NEVER, EVER even dream that they would get to race side by side.. Smiley

Yes it is... Steve and I are getting the car ready to go for the next drag day possibly next bug-in. Finally after 20+ years looking for the car I finally found it. We are doing a joint venture. We took it to VW drag day to have a tech official take a look and see what we have to do to make it track legal. Steve will still be driving the car. Will keep you guys updated.

When I interviewed Lyle Cherry of Fort Worth, Texas, he told me he built/worked on two cars named Small Wonder, one of them was a chop top. I do not know if this car shown, is one of them, or, there was more than one Small Wonder VW gasser. Rick Johnson drove the car that he worked on.

THIS car is a biggy, made a huge impact on our stuff here, I thought "Oh wow! Where did that photo come from?".

Keegan's a bloody clever bloke, and besides the incredible noise, was just really damn quick.

Ray Groom - picture From my friend Karpo who now owns the Pisano & Matsubaru Fiat Gasser

I never had a chance to see the Groom & Soul VW run/leap, but it has always been of great interest. Very little in print on it... Got any more details?

Yeah, but I don't know much about it other than that. It looks to be a usual "gasser" car, like the old Topolino body-shell style.
Looking at the photo, it's probably Castlereagh (Sydney) from the mid-70s.

For those that don't know the "camel Filters" car, it was a supercharged 2L VW motor, all built in a tin shed on a small farm miles from anywhere by 2 brothers who obviously got a bit bored!
No disrespect to the Keegans, incredible self-taught skills, that little Beetle was running in the mid-10s around 1966/67...........
