Decided to make this its own thread after finding more photos!

Finally decent photos of the Doug Church dragster at Blackbushe, where I watched it run. Note it's parked next to Tony Nancy's streamliner AA/FD car. It was a hell of a race meeting – my first ever! Cool

"1964 - Doug Church got the “Modern Specialist” Porsche powered dragster down to an 11.41/115m.p.h. and in the afternoon came out for a race against Peter Westbury in his 11sec Lotus BRM which would have been a good race if the Lotus hadn't broken off the line"

And now pics from RAF Duxford:

Doug and Darleen Church, with mechanic Ray Fenwick on the left:

And, the grand finale – film!!!

How cool is that! The tiny little rail next to Don Garlits' digger!

Really love it, thanks Keith!

There is some good info on the 1963-64 british drag festivals in the book Crazy Horses - The history of british drag racing.

That last photo is badass! The one with Garlits is sweet too! Thanks for posting, Keith.

Now I know why it looks identical to the empi dragster. Because it is. I just figured they copied the idea or something.... Grin

Jim,

Tell them the story.  I think it would be great to let everyone know how you came about it and restored it.
