Glenn, I wouldn't say "far from it".  The Canadian team has more experienced and older more established players and was heavily favored. So, I would call this a minor miracle, although compared to the 1980 USA team it's a distant 2nd.
I bet most of the players on both sides are NHL Pros that get paid in US dollars.

It's not like it was in 1980 when all the players were amateurs (except for the CCCP team)

The hockey is really unpredictive. I like how Norway played against the Slovaks. Could as well have been Norway that won the game. There are some good players in that team, like Zuccarello who's always fun to watch. Many of the top teams have played both great and bad games. Sad though that one of Canada or Russia will eliminate the other already. I thought Finland could go far this year. They didn't play well against Sweden, but they should get their game together against the Chezh. Koivu and Selänne should produce more than they did in that game, Jarkko Ruuto wasn't playing as he usually does. I would have liked to see Tuukka Rask in the Olympic roster, but the other goalies aren't exaclty bad either. Haven't seen any game with USA yet. As for Sweden goes the defense is looking ok but it's sad to see that Zetterberg doesn't produce when teamed up with Forsberg and Hörnqvist.

Just checked out ski cross for the first time and it's quite fun to watch. Quick and tight races and some crashes so anyone can take the win. Watched the womens races and it seemed to be dominated by Canadians and Norwegians.

Well well well, I guess I have to congratulate the Swedes for their win yesterday. Norway lost due to one man and his pair of skis - unforgivable.

Just before the games there were some people caught on using drugs and disqualified.
A famous sports cartoonist (in Holland) made this. I find it epic.
The headers says first drugs cases.

Marit Bjørgen managed a silver medal on her last race and in total 5 medals this olympics. That`s one hell of an achievement. Well done Marit and have a nice flight back home. Our curling team was blasted of the playground by the Canadians but what the heck..

Finally the last day of the olympics is here with the GRAND FINAL Mens 50km cross country. Favourite is Lukas Bauer but the Swedish team looks strong and let us not forget Petter Northug. Here is what I think will happen; Lukas will open really strong and manage to get a distance between him and the hunting pack behind. Then the tempo will settle and the rest will catch up if possible. If not they will let Lukas go ahead and win and the rest will race for the left overs.
