Havew I got a memory of Terry's Beetle Services importing that (when it was green)? I never really liked its looks in the two tone colours, it looks a damn sight better in black in my opinion.

As for cars back out.... well my own!  Wink

But then, a friend Alan 'Donge' Donlon used to terrorise the streets in this:

It may not look anything special nowadays, but it was a regular street & strip warrior running mid 14's all day long for years, and was one of the cars that kick started my passion for speed in old VW's! Its currently in my back garden missing its front end, engine & trans after an altercation with an elderly driver who needed to hang up the driving gloves! Alan now has a 59 bug with all the bits from this put in it.

Like I say, nothing special to probably anyone but me, but special nonetheless.

After metting and getting to know Gary Berg over the last few months, I'd really like to see him get the Berglar back. I'm not sure if he shares my enthusiasm though!

That's where the poor car belongs, but alas... it'll probably never be as such, sadly. 99% of people that know of that car will agree.

As for cars that I want to see back on the street... well, that's already in Da Werks, thanks to Rick M. and Danny G. My fellow DEEKS are making my selffish dream a reality.

SO looking forward to seeing this car back on the road, where it belongs.

In a conversation with Gary at Nick's before Bug-In he stated that he is no longer interested in getting his '67 back.  He said that he is building another car.  Straight from the horse's mouth.

Heard the same thing from him, Donny.

While recently on the infamous Berg shop tour, I spied a set of new Berg 590 manifolds set aside in the shop and asked if they were for sale ... "They're being saved for Gary ..."
Perhaps there's something cooking ... ?

Didn't it reappear at a VW Classic a couple of years ago, looking seriously faded (almost orange) and no-one really knew whose it was? I think I saw it on thesamba, and I think I've seen the picture on here too. Huh

EDIT - found it!

no neal, this is either jum logudice's '67 or someone else's. there's quite a few differences with billings's '67 if you look carefully Wink
e.g. antenna, antenna hole, lucas indicators, vent windows, no 7" fuchs, chrome tip on dual QP, no beige/tan porsche seats.

Of course, I just glanced at the pic of Mike Billings car and remembered this one, then when Glenn said about seeing it recently I put two and two together and got five! Cheesy

Still, to keep it on topic, does anyone know what happened to the one I posted? Wink

not sure it was the same car

remember the red one on the cover of june 77 is the faded one and it's the same car who was on the cover of  feb 80 cal look issue and that picture was taken the same day in 77 ,if i remember deano said that here  one time
and mike billing build is car later remember ,he won the bug in 25 best of show and bug in 25 was in oct 1980 so it was 3years later after the dkp II cover where is the red car(faded) ,so mike's red car was the same  one Huh i would like to know the truth
