Cheers Ant , Has anyone had any trouble with hurst line locks ? I've mounted mine above my master cylinder , I'm just wondering if I've inadvertently created a air lock as bleeding my system is proving problematic ? any thoughts

Pretty sure should be mounted level or below the master cylinder

Mine on the oval is mounted on the frame head bottom plate, opposite side to the master cylinder (so effectively level)
on my 63, it's mounted higher on the bulkhead, both work ok!

Thanks guy's , I'm contemplating fitting a bleed nipple to the fourth outlet on the line lock I'll wind it out later to see how much brass is there on the bung to play with .

I couldn't get the air out of it where was above the master cylinder because my resivour is a mk2 golf one that sits on top of the master cylinder hence big air lock . Only got pressure after a lot of pumping then nothing . So it spent last night moving it lower into the passenger side space and re-plumbing , gonna bleed it all tonight . wish me luck

Vuala I have brakes .. yeah !! That was fun , three master cylinders , a quick re-plumb , and the realization that a low reservoir sat direct atop of the master cylinder aint gonna work with the line lock ! so jack that up a foot and hey presto brakes !!! oh and easy bleed is just magic working on your own , if you've not got one , get one !!

MOT in the bag , no thanks to the line lock ! Went back for a re-test , the fronts were only showing 120 on the rollers 200 is ideal , so went back home bleed it again with no improvement till I decided to by pass the line lock and insert a temp tee , well hey presto we have good pressure pulled 220 on the rollers . Gonna go back to drawing board on the line lock and see what's up , but its all on the road and showing free road pass on the screen Hope to get the rug's fitted one night this week , then I'll sort the window regulators out properly so the door panels can be permanently fixed back . later in the month hope to have the rag top re-made and an headliner stitched up in tan alcantara to match the fat biscuits

Today's bit of sage advice is that CSP calipers work a whole lot better if you fit them the right way up so I've been having some fun with the line lock

Well I've put 220 miles now on the new motor with no major hick ups , gonna clear some garage space so I can get some more work done on the car . Job list reads Headlining square Get widow regulators to wind down as well as up ! replace shiny chrome handles with STD dull grey alloy grey ones Sort out irritating rear suspension squeak " easy don't take mate's out in it " lol and have a look a harsh riding front end , has anyone else had problems with narrowed beams and ride quality ? Here's a quick vid " bit of IDA noise and not much else bloody sunday drivers http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?v=10151684417462738

220 miles & not on a trailer?? Good man The spring rate will increase on a narrowed front as the narrower the leaves are the less 'twist' is available due to less leverage acting on the center anchor point. Or something like that

Or something like that Yup no trailer action as of yet but I will will be pulling it up to Drag Day , and thats kinda what I thought on the leaf beam gag too . What shocks are you running? Lee
Was running adjustable Koni reds , now running New STD ones . I had no movement at all with the Koni's now at least I got a bit , I might as well not have the dropped spindles .

You wait till you drive it on a concrete motorway with a woman with big tits. They just don't stop wobbling.

Have you still got those Koni reds? If you are running stock shocks, as my oval does it should ride lovely. Much better than a ball joint set up in my experience. How narrow is it? Only other thing I can think of is the angle each sway away is fitted, maybe they are fighting against each other if you get what I mean?

Would it be worth losing a couple of small leaves per tube to soften it back up a bit? Obviously may need the height adjusted on the sway aways after.
