I'd like to see your broken engine cases, cylinders, gearboxes, axles, rods, spindles...whatever!
All that stuff you learned to build your car the hard way.  Wink

Maybe there's a story behind the destruction. Who knows, maybe it helps someone to prevent destroying his parts the same way.

Let me start with a broken rod from Fredy/DKT at DDD#8 last year.

1.4bar and some fuel problem on the other carburetor..

Other budjet Turbo 1600 engine but with forged pistons.. But then the stock rods where over stressed..

After a while forged pistons started to fail.. Again some fuel problem with the carburetors but this time twin turbo and 1.7bar

Massive destruction Wink
I only have some pic`s from mild destruction.Anyway.

W125 - 1,25 rockers - singel springs shimed - 6500rpm+

springs got soft after some km`s and the keepers/keys failed due to valve float.

DAS Drag Day 05 at the first run of the meeting, no not the run it was in the burnout zone Roll Eyes

stock gearbox with 1776cc

And a quiet funny thing am friend of mine did when he assembled a typ-4 engine. He is/was more into watercooled vw`s. He had the problem when he torqued the flywheel he had NO axial play. Look what happened:

case was scrap after that. No case pin was in the bearingbore...

It is still hard for me to watch Pat's Fiat hit the wall and with that fireball tht followed -- -- we were lucky that day that most of the damage was to the car only and not to Pat

the pin was in it when it as assembled, he just flat out missed putting the pin into 3 of the bearing holes

@JLH: single HD Springs. With the W120 and 1,25 rockers it was no issue, but the W125 was definetly to much...

@Ron Greiner: That`s what it wanted to say, sometimes I don`t find the excact english words...The pins were in the case but he didn`t see them and just droped in the crank and stamped some additional holes in the bearings.
