San Francisco Bug Shops

All,
Just looking for a little advice, my better half is heading out to the States for a holiday with some friends, clearly I'm keen to make sure she picks me up appropriate 'presents' while she's there.
She'll be staying close to Union Sq as she'll mostly be doing the 'touristy' stuff, are there any good stores within easy reach where I can have her pick up some performance parts.
Just need to work out if her baggage allowance stretches to a raised roof mag case

No such thing, so you needn't worry about that
Other than that quip, I'm not much help, sorry!

There is Viking auto Parts in Novato, California if they find themselves wine tasting in Napa, ca. The VW storefront is a thing of the past, for the most part, here in the Bay Area. Donsco used to have a storefront in Belmont, Ca. but that is long gone. Bugformance in Sunnyvale is gone. I don't know any in the SF area. There is an AA distributor in SF, but way off the site seeing areas...more of a warehouse if I understand correctly. You should tell her to vacation in Southern California lots more down there.

Tassi Inc is located in Daly City but mostly serves the late models, weirdo vanagon people and the water cooled crowd. As Pat mentioned there are only a few VW shops in the Bay Area and Buggy House is probably the only one that sells hi-po stuff.
Is Bugformance still in the south bay. San Jose? Campbell?

Thanks folks, at worst I can get the parts sent to her hotel, stockpiling some parts for a rebuild and cc increase next winter and don't want to miss the opportunity of some US priced parts.

I once tried to buy from Ray, but he never got back to me on prices or anything when I was shopping out parts for my current 2017 build.

Weird, he always calls me back same day, as long as he's there.

Wasn't a big deal to me, as there's plenty of options for parts buying. I know Ray is well connected within the VW circles and highly thought of by a lot of people. Lol, I hate to say it, but I kind of felt like I was a low priority since I wasn't a major player in the scene; I could very well be wrong, but it was hard not to assume that when I never got price quotes and calls went unreturned. But that's neither here nor there at this point, my engine got built just the same.

Ray is doing things for one person now. That is what I had heard and VolksAuthority is no longer in business as it used to be. Don't know for sure, but Ray always treated me right.

I want to be absolutely clear that I never picked up any attitude or anything from him when I did talk to him on the phone, it was just a thing where I tried to call, never got calls returned and I finally gave up and moved on. Seemed like a perfectly nice guy when I did talk to him on the phone, just never went anywhere with transactions, unfortuantely. At the time I talked to him VolksAuthority was not in business, either, he told me he would look for what I needed in his parts that were in storage or something to that effect.
