I know it's hot now, but how about THEN? Would you have it on a decromed 1979 built car? In my opinion no...

I keep a fluctuating stock of 60s vw dealer frames, and they are cool IMHO, but on a car like that, no. Maybe some dodgy black plastic version with VW trends or something on it would suit it better.

An old, scruffed frame is always a cool add-on to any old and cool car.

I Have A Restored and Rechromed HARRY HILL VW  West Covina Calif. It is Dated on the Back 1954 Perfect Condition, I was looking at some Frames on Samba For Sale  some people want a lot of $$ for the Frames and there not that old?? I dont know what mine would be worth I have had  two Guys ask Me for Years if I Wanted to get Rid of It  But I Just Keep Hanging on to it  I guess the Main Reason Is I Bought Two Cars From Them in the 80's of course the Newer Frames are way Different then the old one... any Ideas on what it would be Worth??

I dont think I have ever had an early california sized frame - I understand the height was reduced in 55 ish?

That frame sounds awesome, re-chromed and restored it must be worth a couple of hundred dollars I would have thought. The prices seem to be on the increase, you dont see many for under $50 on the web these days, and those are normal sized dealer frames in average condition.

Do you have any pics of yours?

Well I always ran a black plastic frame that was made by wink. The same people that made the multi panel mirrors. Another popular frame that I've been looking for is a frame from Ala-Moana VW in Honolulu.

That's interesting Frank... usually black and yellow plates are 3 letters followed by 3 numbers. That must be a special issue of some kind... not sure what it's for.

I don`t know the right answer to your question Brother....but plate frames are kewl....I tend to dislike the replica Empi-stuff and thats why they lower the standards on those original Empi-frames too....
So for me I really like those "right" dealer-frames...but the best ones are the "sayings"....like Zachs "yellow snow", and several others....

...hey I also like quake-lettering.....
