More importantly, this was at full weight, full PRA spec, at a PRA event and backed up by an eight-zero pass! I was there and it was amazing - totally without drama, like all the truly fast runs.

Awesome!!!!

It was awsome to see,the 8.02 previous pass was pretty special to watch, and they predicted that it would be the backup for a new record and it was,I got video from the stands and actually managed to hold the camera reasonably still which is coming shortly,Jo is justs uploading it now. Grin
The most impressive part is the 60ft was nearly a 1/10th down on there best so lots more to come still Grin

cheers richie

Johan is correct it was 1.2689, and the best that we know of was a 1.17XX (don't remember the small numbers)
So there's a tenth straight away   Smiley

Thank you everyone. Jo is correct about the a 1.17 60 ft being are best. We have done it numerous times but this track could not hold it. So we had to use plan B and make it up on the upper end.

I thought the same thing... looks almost "soft" when it launches.

Yes, FINALLY a 7 second pass! Congrats to the Paradise crew!

Am I going mad ? Thought Eric Calabrese in Red Baron ran 7.97@179mph recently ??  Huh

I'm not as famliar with the different classes as I should be. Can anyone give me the short explanation  Cheesy am guessing it has to do with weight / floorpan or tube chassis / power adders etc ?

Anyway not taking anything away from the Paradise Crew an awesome achievement from a dedicated team that have been around a longtime now pushing the limits for the VW flat four.

By the way, are these guys now members of Scat's exclusive 7 second club ?  Smiley

Congratulations all round.

Congratulations all round.

I'm guessing that what was meant was the VWP team finally hit their seven-second goal.  Eric Calabrese ran a sub-eight second mark previously, but this was the Paradise team's first milestone hitting the 7-second range.

I believe that that the Lauffers were the first to run <8.00 at a PRA event. The Red Baron's sub 8 was not done at a PRA event.

Exactly........ We were the first to do it in PRA pro mod trim

As for the soft launch. The track was falling apart. Gravel was being dragged out from the pits and being spread all over the track. Every pass we kept softening up the clutch & taking boost out. It was a total crap shoot that day for getting down the track.
