I would reconsider how you use bolts in the attachment of this cage. You are now relying on the strength of the bolt to keep the back end on. In other words they get a lot if not all the stress.
If you bolt it sideways (90° to the center axis of the car) it will rely on the clamping force between the cage and the tabs you weld on the chassis. Then the bolts will only have to maintain the clamping force.
And if you spreed the bolts as far apart as possible it will become stronger with every mm you gain.
Just an opinion from a engineering standpoint, but carry on, you must have a lot of fun!

Hi i get what your saying how much twisting force would you think would be there i cant think there would be a huge amount, the cage for the trans will also be tied into the cage in the car  there's also 160 mm + of CSA of bolts and dowls there there won't be that much on the flywheel

any help is good

managed to escape over to the workshop for a few hours to do a bit more mocking up as i still wasnt convinced i was going to fit this lot under the wings. I had to machine down the 996 hubs dam they are hard lol

pressed in some studs

strange rotors now fit Smiley

very slight change in plan as becouse of the ET of the wheels i want to use im going to have to directly mount the arms to the transmission cage a little bit more work and lots more measuring but worth the effort

cheers andy

Hey Andy, glad the turbo arrived safely Wink
I'm digging your suspension approach. I bet it'll go around corners well! Are you going to poly bush the suspension arms?
Cheers, Matt

so little vist to the workshop and welded some parts in place

that is 100% not going to move

3 hardened 18mm dowls
7 M18 x 2.5 12.9 cap screws

welded the plate to the frame

and few other parts the need a bit of tigging while i was at it still need more practice at TIG but pratice makes perfect i need lots of practice

both side on ive got to do a lot of measuring to make sure i get the geometry  the same but im happy it looks like it may even work

im going to tie the rear cage to here on the main hoop

from here

when ive got some more tube and also adjust the angle of the top mounts

the sump tank and oil cooler must not be in the cockpit.  They need to be boxed in.
