Hi Neil,

That info is all very interesting indeed.

Danny's car was recently run up on a Dyno Dynamics Rolling Road which seem to be becoming more popular in the South East anyway, alledgedly for accuracy and consistency.

I agree with you the numbers are intresting and it's nice to have big one's but the real deal is as you say to endure your motor is performing as well as it can be efficiency wise etc.

My old JMR 2276 made 201 bhp at the flywheel no cooling on John's Stuska dyno. Within a week or two I took the bug down to Power Engineering and had it rolling roaded just for comparison and we got 202 bhp calculated at the flywheel with if memory serves 165 bhp at the wheels so nearly a 40 bhp loss through the transmission.

For those racing with cooling attached ( fanbelts ) the anount of power they sap varies and seems relative to the amount of power the engine produces - in general the more the engine makes the higher the losses seen to drive the fan.

On my new motor fitted with a "power pulley" this saps 14 bhp when belt is fitted.

You Raise another point here Shane, I didn't run cooling at all - when I had the little 1600 in the car I found that it made around 4/10th difference - yes, it was only in the high 15's, but with the belt on it wouldn't get out of the 16's at all.

yes i had a 25 shot in it and had backed the coilovers off a bit it was still bouncing all the way but not as bad made for an interesting run  Cheesy

Do some work on the engine and you do not need any NOS  Wink
My wife Karin did some 11,0 passes with our small 2,3 engine and her 660 kg car .. at Bitburg uphill

176 na with belt on and 255 on the bottle the dyno is a bit tight on the numbers shane did a power run on the same dyno then went to another one and i think he made 18 more on the other one?

Yep as Danny says, I did back to back dyno rolling road sessions. No changes to set up at all. Both Dyno Dynamics rollers but the one Danny uses has a different newer software package and tends to read low compared to bhp figures previously achieved at other rolling roads. Even the technician where Danny goes says across a broad spectrum of cars his customers report this dyno seems to read around 15 bhp low as a calculated flywheel figure. My own car read 184 bhp flywheel ( with cooling attached ) and muffler at this road then read 200 bhp at the other dyno dynamics road. So I noted a 16 bhp difference.

If you apply that to Danny's figures his 176 bhp flywheel figure becomes 192 bhp which would seem about what you would expect with his spec 2276 efi motor n/a. Therefore his NOS figure with 65 hp jets of 255 becomes 271 bhp at flywheel on gas.
