Greetings Thorsten
Dear Thorsten Are you able to sell me a set of your famous tool steel lifters. I'm thinking of using them in my race engine: 2977cc T1 Do you think they will survive 8000 RPM at 550lbs to 580lbs spring pressure at .660 lift ? MeXX

You do not need that much spring pressure @8000 , no matter what lifters weight you have

Dear Udo I know that it is to much, but it is just to be sure that it is enough to avoid valve float or even worse valve bounce at every RPM and everytime, otherwise it will kill power and parts. MeXX

No, they canīt as the distance between the cylinders is different. Tobi

These heads look very promising, is he selling them yet? I am very interested. I was thinking to stuff them with JPM springs and retainers and some manley type 4 valves 48x38..

Hi Alex,
indeed there are some news about these heads! Thorsten's 2.7L (86x100mm) engine was used successffully last season. At first it had some minor problems with knocking so the chambers got modified and all is okay now. It made around 215rwhp (I canīt remember the exact number) while being 100% street worthy. The heads are cooling very good, even on high speed autobahn trips. A second batch of heads have just been finished so there will be a few oxyboxers built for the upcoming season. The heads have been tested on a flow bench. The exhaust port proved to be very effective while the inlet port and 46mm inlet valve seems to be a little restrictive and could obviously be improved with a bigger valve and some porting. The price for a pair of bare heads (no valves, seats and valve guides), black anodized will be around 1.800 Euros.
Tobi

Definetly want to buy these heads. It looks like a good idea to have throughholes for cooling air. I heard that twinspark setup is very beneficial. Wonder if you can harness megasquirt and eight coils to work together If not, then just correct distributor. http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=374534

Hi Alex, you are right. The third batch of heads with some improvements (one of which being a more efficient inlet port) is getting machined right now. Great to see some more engines with these heads very soon...! Tobi

Very very nice, The evo intake port is an improvement, even on stock style ports like 044 etc, I see the mistake most tuners make by removing meterial from the intake port floor below the bump, valve Spring seat looks substantial enough too, pics show wasser stud spacing dimensions I take it?
