What pictures do you need? I can take some today and post up. My race car uses the Weksberg lexan windows. A pain to fit but they look good. My car is a late beetle, not a Ghia though.

By the way, is it most common to use rivets or screws to mount Lexan windows?

Thanks, I am interested to view some mounting details (screws vs. rivets) so yes please, but most importantly I would like to see solutions on Ghia around the door vs. 1/4 window :-) Thatīs where I will need to do something smart and there is no point in reinventing the wheel for me. Iīm thinking of bending a roundtube that I weld onto the door to hook the window up to, but there is an angle thing and some more details. So I would like to see how other people have solved this issue.

Hi Trond Here we go: [ Attachment: You are not allowed to view attachments ] [ Attachment: You are not allowed to view attachments ] [ Attachment: You are not allowed to view attachments ] [ Attachment: You are not allowed to view attachments ] I prefere rivets as don't make so much pressure to the lexan, they never come loose are easy to install (ever tried to install screws from the outside and nuts from the inside without going nuts ) and they look nice. The black washers on the inside are the waste if you remove an installed rivet by drilling them out so can U spell recycling . MeXX

Mexx,
As mentioned before, very nice car!
One question, are you actually allowed to grind down your roll cage welds?

I'dont think it is allowed. But You definitely should not do it! On my main hoop it just looks like I did, because it was coated with 3 layers of powder coating and in this place I had just to repaint it and to gain the same look I applied just several layers of primer before finishing with the black paint. Trond,
Sorry to take a side step on your thread, but I've just been looking at the carbon work in Mexx's car!
Mexx very impressed with your standard or workmanship and the speed of your car. I hope to be at DDD this year if you are going again it would be nice to meet you and have a good look at your car.
I see you are heading towards an 8 second run, has that been done before with a non turbo flat four door car? Perhaps yours is the fastest nitrous door car already?
What ever very professional excellent looking car keep up the good work!
Peter

No worries Peter, I think you are just stating what a lot of us are thinking :-) Mexx, and everyone else. Since I bought the old doors from Mexx I need a good similar door latch solution. Suggestions are welcomed.

Are the latches stock? I guess you want to keep it as light as possible. Is there any rules one needs to comply with? (for example opening from the outside etc)

Not sure I used the correct wording, but my new doors do not have the stock doorhandles so I want to do something similar to other race cars such like Mexx's. An alternative is to modify the doors to take stock doorhandles, which will make it look more stock... but.. :-) Time will tell what happens but I need options to consider during winter days :-)

What does it make me, who asks stupid questions about something as easy as building a race car within a set of rules? A wise man[well 2 actually] once said FTG racing, I say build it how you want it,then if it doesnt fit the rules bring it over here, most events it seems you can do what you like here, and in germany, both where T-shirts seem to be acepted as race clothing,if thats ok then everything else must be ok cheers richie
