Taken about a month ago, before the garage was a mess again. If you've been on Lounge for last 5 yr or so, you might remember Sheep's 88 x 74 motor I've been trickling along on. You can just see his carrera-copy header (by Ray Schubert) in the background behind the cabinet door that fell off its hinges. This morning I peeked out in garage and quietly just closed the door in desperation.... 3 motors in various stages of chaos, kids' toys, cat stuff, Weber junk... 911 wheels, and this old blue pig.

Yep.
Got back from the Westernationals yesterday. The big-block EFE only went 9.40s with a soft launch, but at least it didn't split the barrel again!
I'll be there next year (hopefully....) with a Gixxer750 short-stroke screamer in an '80 GS frame.
It's even sort-of on-topic, because I'm building the garage now for that and the '73 Super project.
Hi-7s?!?!?!?!
Damn, that's fast man on an old Zook. Well done.

Few of where my car lived for a year during the rebuild. It's a few hours drive for me, but much more room then I have.
And my little single car garage at home.

I really like that space. Would have difficulty not moving up into that loft.

My 1950 South Bend 13" x 6' CL 145C. This pic is a few years old. I've added a 5C lever collet closer and loads more tooling. I'm also in the middle of doing a large dial crossfeed upgrade at the moment.

Nice machine. My 13 is a '42 war board machine. Small spindle, which is the thing i hate the most about it.

Mine will take 1 3/8" thru the chuck or 1.050" thru the 5C collets. My lathe came from a deceased gunsmith's daughter 25 miles from me and he made rifle barrels on it. I've been looking for a milling machine to go with it, but the price of used machines seems to be skyrocketing since the industry is getting busier again.

My shop is half the lower level and as I continue work on it, the loft will be usable too.

one of the first things i made on it
and been shaping my owne tooling of late too.
and even Small lathes can be used for bigger jobs!!

I'll show you mine but you promise not to laugh at the mess. It's a cramped space made worse by my unbridled enthusiasm for starting new projects and disdain for finishing them.
According to the gal at South Bend my 405 was made before early '36 and it's been converted to a 1 1/2-inch spindle . It's also 54 inches which is a pretty rare length. I haven't taken the time to level it but for the most part all I use it for is turning small parts like sleeves, bungs, slugs, knobs, and the like. And for that it's perfect.
I have a 30:1 reducer to convert the Atlas 912 saw next to it for metal use. I also have a '60s Clausing 8520 mill that I'll move into the shop once I finish my wife's car.
